Seen on a local hedgerow. Lichen are neither plant or animal, but a symbiotic partnership.
Because lichens thrive on bare rock and in extreme conditions, they are symbols of resilience and adaptability.
Apparently, they are some of the earthβs oldest life-forms, and can live for over 4000 years!

Close-up of lichen growing in a local hedgerow. They remind me a bit of coral reefs.
This close-up of a lichen makes them look a bit otherworldly. The circular structures on lichen are called 'apothecia', the sexual reproductive structures of the fungal partner in the lichen symbiosis.
#Lichen #scape for some uplifting colours!

They are a symbiotic association between a fungus & a photosynthetic partner - an algae or cyanobacteria, representing collaboration, interdependence & interconnectedness of all living beings.

A luminous full moon rises in the sky, prominently featured against the dusky blue of early night. In the foreground, a line of Eurasian cranes is silhouetted in mid-flight, their long legs and necks stretched out as they navigate by the moonlight.
Look to the sky tonight for March's full moon ππ
Also known as the Worm Moon, it marks the shift in seasons as the soil warms, earthworms re-emerge, and nature awakens.
It has many other names including: Lenten, Plough, Crow, & Sap Moon.

And yet, as the EU considers a ban on non-essential uses of PFAS, the industry falls into hysterical predictions this will lead directly to the total collapse of medical systems. For the record, the ban would apply to non-essential uses only & firms have long transition times to find alternatives.

Solar farms managed for nature can boost bird numbers and biodiversity
Research by the RSPB and Cambridge University shows how management can benefit wildlife.

Vintage engraving of the attempted assassination of Queen Victoria by Roderick Maclean, London Illustrated News, 1882. Image shows a hue and cry at a railway station as a diminutive woman in a carriage is driven away, a man shoots at her, and another man rushes towards him. A dramatic puff of smoke rises from the gun
Itβs 2 March, which can only mean one thing. YES, THAT'S RIGHT! Itβs the 144th anniversary of the day Queen Victoria survived the last of eight attempts to assassinate her, prompting William McGonagall to write another of his spectacularly terrible poems π§΅
