China did NOT move "quickly to condemn the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran" Technically, Beijing only condemned the attack and killing of Khamenei and the attack on the girls' school. And it basically condemned Iran for attacking other Gulf countries.

Here Chinese influence operative Wang Zichen of UFWD-backed CCG usefully draws attention to how limited Beijing’s condemnation of the attacks on Iran was: www.pekingnology.com/p/china-did-...

Hegseth confirms right now it was a US submarine which sunk the Iranian warship close to SL. This leads to a series of questions over coordination or not with India (which had initially invited this warship for an exercise in the Indian Ocean)...

Now for those asking, what is an Iranian warship doing in this area of the Indian Ocean? The Iranian ship had been invited to participate in the MILAN 2026 naval exercises in India (yes, just as PM Modi was visiting Israel)

To all those colleague who told me repeatedly over the past year that Europe would never, ever move towards any sort of stand-alone military alliance or nuclear capacity--a reminder that we all need to unleash our political imaginations to even begin to grasp the world we live in today.

Military officials question fortifications at site where U.S. troops were killed in Iranian strike The first American service members to die in the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran were killed in an apparent Iranian drone attack on a makeshift office space in Kuwait, sources told CBS News.

On the 6 US troops who died at Shuaiba port in Kuwait: Troops asked for more drone defeat capabilities, none came. It was recommended that the makeshift tactical operations center not be used because it was hard to defend and concentrated too many troops in one place. www.cbsnews.com/news/iran-st...

There were always concerns about US security guarantees waning, explaining some long term hedging strategies from some GCC states. Now, few predicted the US would itself deliberately start the crisis undermining them…

Three side-by-side line charts titled β€œNatural gas prices have surged in Europe and Asia this week”, showing daily prices rebased to 100 in September 2025.

In Europe and the UK, prices hover around 100 through autumn 2025, dip below 90 around January 2026, then spike sharply in early March 2026 to roughly 180–195.

In Asia, prices follow a similar pattern but rise less steeply, climbing from around 100 to about 130–135 in early March 2026.

Two-panel line chart titled β€œThe natural gas price rally still has a long way to go to match 2022”.

Top panel shows the European benchmark gas price over the past six months (€/MWh), fluctuating mostly between €27 and €35 before rising sharply in late February 2026 to about €58.

Bottom panel shows weekly prices over the past five years. Prices surge dramatically in 2022, peaking above €300 per MWh, then fall back and stabilise mostly between €20 and €60 through 2023–2025. The recent 2026 uptick, marked on the far right, remains far below the 2022 peak. Source: Refinitiv.

Conflict in the Middle East has sent gas prices surging across Europe and Asia. But the spike remains modest compared with 2022 when Putin's Ukraine invasion sent prices almost seven times higher.

Trump’s Shifting Goals for Iran Complicate Military’s Mission President Trump and his allies offered at least two separate objectives Sunday for the assault on Iran, muddying U.S. intentions for ending a conflict that has killed three American servicemembers.

"It is possible that Trump’s military campaign doesn’t overthrow the regime & that his attempts at a deal similarly fail. In such a scenario, 'Trump could find himself with no regime change, no deal and no capacity to honor the promises he’s made to the Iranian people.'"
