Prime Minister appoints Sir Chris Wormald as new Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Civil Service
Sir Chris Wormald has been appointed to succeed Simon Case as the new Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Civil Service
This is good news for the UK and anyone interested in good Government. Chris Wormald was an exceptional Education Permanent Secretary when I worked with him. He has many tough calls ahead of him & I wish him well.

Today MPs have an almost impossible decision on assisted dying. Many have been MPs for less than 6 months. The 'will of the people, do what we say' language is starting to creep into this debate. It isn't right for a representative democracy. Let's give them space for a respectful debate.

A belated endorsement of @reformthinktank.bsky.social 'Grown Up Government' report - as one of the few Ministers to trial an EMO I support the idea of an 'Integrated Ministerial Office'. Thanks @stephenkb.bsky.social for the report's mention in your newsletter too.
