Today with Minister Kristy McBain I discussed how our Government is strengthening preparedness for H5 bird flu.

This includes $12 million to states and territories to purchase critical equipment in the event of an outbreak.

We remain the only continent free of the disease, and preparation is key.

It’s National Forestry Day, and the Albanese Labor Government is investing $19million in 15 new plantation projects across TAS, NSW, WA, VIC & NT — boosting Aussie timber supply, cutting reliance on imports, and supporting a Future Made in Australia, including building more homes.

It was a privilege to be sworn into the 48th Parliament of Australia as the Member for Franklin. I will continue to fight for Franklin and ensure we get our fair share.

This week’s National Farm Safety Week reminds us of the dangers faced by farmers and their workers on a daily basis.

The Albanese Labor Government have committed $2.5million over 3 years to Farmsafe Australia to deliver better farm safety outcomes nationally.

They also shared their ambition for restoration, as well as preparation for future emergency events.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to chat with farmers to hear of their experiences of the May floods.

I was inspired by the incredible community spirit of the people in and around Taree during and since the floods. Locals were very generous and honest.

The RBA has proposed removing debit, prepaid and credit card surcharges, as well as the lowering the cap on card fees paid by businesses.

I was in Western Australia today to announce further details of the $139.7 million sheep industry transition package.

This significant support will assist individuals, businesses and communities to plan and adapt to the end of live sheep exports by sea from 1 May 2028.
