Steph Sterling made the point "writing prompts" equals real artists having ideas & it says a lot about these companies if they need late nights to have ideas.

But also isn't AI supposed to remove the need for crunch like this? It's almost like that was a lie & the plan was always to keep crunching.

It says a lot that AI “artists” are so creatively bankrupt they think writing prompts is a difficult, arduous task.

You realize coming up with a prompt is what a real artist would call “having an idea,” right?

It took them weeks of sleepless nights to have some basic thoughts.

Given that the entire game is a meta commentary on the morality of the player more so than it is a commentary on the actions of its characters, it all fits the theming extremely well. Besides which having every character be optionally redeemed isn't the same as a singular narrative where everyone is

Ok... well firstly that's IRL which doesn't apply to what I wrote, but also does anybody not know JK Rowling wrote Harry Potter other than perhaps young readers who don't pay attention to authors (which I think is also hypothetical because I had favorite authors by age 7).

I do not disagree but I took it as a given that somebody was going to acquire it no matter what so I came to terms with that crappy reality a while back.

And again: THIS SUCKS. Corporate consolidation, especially on this scale, fucking sucks. It shouldn’t be allowed to happen. But I’m kind of dumbfounded that people aren’t sighing relief at Paramount/Skydance/Saudi Arabian Government losing the bid.

I feel so weird coming across like the optimist about this. But early indications aren’t that Netflix would kill all theatrical distribution, but rather they’d leave that as is and let WB be a whole new theatrical arm of the company just using the existing framework.

Watching everybody freak out over this while just sipping coffee thinking “I know this sucks but we dodged such a bullet that the Paramount bid didn’t win.”

A sale was happening no matter what. And would you folks honestly prefer Comcast or Para/Skydance won? WHY?
