Power came back and then we lost it again! This problem only exists because someone decided that power lines belong on sticks right next to trees. To make matters worse the City of Kirkland will fine you if you try to trim them yourself.

anyway the story goes we lasted 2 days without power. Throwback to 2006 it was so much easier this time round without childrent to worry about. I walked the neighborhood, read a book. Cleaned up the yard. Hung out with friends that had power. Learned how to fill gas tanks.

Two days without power was easy peasy because I had a power bank, hybrid car and Canadian friends that pulled out their 20 year old generator and plugged it in. Canadians being Canadian made room in their freezer for all the homesteady people that had frozen their home grown food.

Everyday I check the weather patterns because my 120lb of dog does not like to walk around the neighborhood. He likes to swim in rivers and retreive things. I saw the big cyclone on Cliff mass and the modelling websites. On Mon I went to Costco and loaded up.

I'm not saying that everyone should be a scientist but I wish we had a phrase to describe the thought patterns of anyone that studied a heavy science and then had to navigate a world of experts that didn't. Granted I didn't use my degree because computer science was more lucrative (at the time) but.

I have so much to reflect upon these day. I finally became an empty nester but as an "only" parent and no family in the area it really has been a different journey.
