File this under "Evidence that this country is full of people who would be Pedos if not for fear of jail"

Fitting that we have a Pedo President, I guess.

It would be fantastic if this made it to trial, where Jack Smith could just submit his investigation and the underlying evidence as a defense

Australia is a net exporter of beef (and the US is it's largest customer!).

The US is a net importer of beef.

US Beef prices are also at record highs.

Let me know if you need help putting the pieces together here.

Astronomer CEO caught having an affair with his head of HR is bad enough on a personal level... but I'm mostly thinking about how difficult it will be for him to rebuild trust within his company now that all the employees know that he likes Coldplay.

Of all the ways I’ve learned about companies for the first time this week, I’m going to rank β€œstrange Cod filet offering” over β€œCEO publicly caught having an affair with head of HR” in terms of what’s best for the business

The use of em dashes is not so much a sign of my use of AI... it's more so a sign of your lack of couth.

You're probably the kind who would write "LOL" in your college term papers.

One day my grandchildren will ask me about how the Great War between the US and the Private AI Paramilitary Force ("X-Force", probably) started...

And I'll be forced to explain how two guys started tweeting mean things at each other... and then I'll be forced to explain Twitter and... ugh.

Didn't we all know this already though? I guess it's possible some of Trump's supporters may have been in denial about it... but those who were are likely to remain so.

Will be interesting to see which Cult of Personality carries more weight, given the cults' overlapping membership.

Trump's tariff war could reduce the supply of Christmas toys. But deporting children could reduce the demand.

Well golly, a darn shame John Roberts could not have seen the entirely predictable consequences of his judicial actions (or lack thereof).

People like Roberts, Collins, Murkowski, etc all keep giving Trump the runway to do the right thing, seemingly flabbergasted when he doesn’t

The risks of this tariff war are incredibly asymmetric. If we "win" perhaps we can convince Vietnam to eliminate its tariffs, but that only reduces them from 1.1% to 0%. While we wait, China is retaliating with a 34% tariff.

We stand to win very little, but lose a lot.

When you start with the premise that trade deficits are inherently bad, it’s easy to understand… that these people are simply economically illiterate.

post by James Surowiecki:

Just figured out where these fake tariff rates come from. They didn't actually calculate tariff rates + non-tariff barriers, as they say they did. Instead, for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us.
So we have a $17.9 billion trade deficit with Indonesia. Its exports to us are $28 billion.
$17.9/$28 = 64%, which Trump claims is
the tariff rate Indonesia charges us. What extraordinary nonsense this is.

Below is an earlier post by James Surowiecki which says:
It's also important to understand that the tariff rates that foreign countries are supposedly charging us are just made-up numbers. South Korea, with which we have a trade agreement, is not charging a 50% tariff on U.S. exports.
Nor is the EU charging a 39% tariff.

Part of the problem with this new American Juche economic policy regime is that is based on the misconception that trade deficits are inherently bad... and that misconception is based upon the fact that a lot of people are not very intelligent.
