Why do all the boys I end up meeting at cons near me and wanting to spend more time with end up being the ones who traveled the furthest to get to the con...

So the con I'm going to in July, Aurawra, has no dance competition which I'm big sad about.

HOWEVER

I now want to host a dance style photoshoot with the moving coloured lights for the variety show stage which I think i can just pose suiters in to look like they're dancing anyway!

We'll see...

i haven't edited a single photo today because i feel exhausted.

Monday after con day off is a requirement for me, even if I go home Sunday.

And if anyone knows how I can get to do dance comp photography at Anthrocon, it would be amazing, but I have no expectations. I've been fortunate at the smaller cons because they're small. I don't expect special treatment at the biggest con in the world.

Being that I'm going to Aurawra in Sydney this July, and FM is a given, I think three cons this year is plenty for my first big year since 2019. I kind of want to give AC another try next year, but not in the main hotel. If anyone wants to coordinate for 2027, please let me know.

I've been thinking about the cons I've attended in past years, and how many each year.

From '00-'13 I attended no more than 2 cons a year except '06 I attended 3. In '14 it was 5, the most of any year. Then 4 in '16-'17, 3 in '18-'19, 2 in '21-'22 and 1 since - TFF in 2020 but that's an outlier.

I have edited maybe a dozen photos from Fur Squared so far and if this is how good a random pick looks now I can't wait to see what else I got XD

When I saw the lighting set up at the gala event and Azure there I had to ask him to pose for me in a certain spot and asked folks to move lol

Worth it

In the end I encountered two people with Mavicas and one with a MiniDV Sony Handycam at Fur Squared. I got contact info for all of them and it is a great way to meet people and talk shop about retro tech.

I think next year I go to Fur Squared I'm stepping it up a notch and bringing the FD-91.

That's just so funny I recognized the wheels right away because I owned one, kudos to whoever is keeping that thing on the road!

What really made Fur Squared special wasn't the panels or the food or the fursuits or art or venue or (honestly) the coffee.

It was the people.

I made so many new friends and connections in three days and saw many folks I haven't seen in years despite living one state away from them.

I used to fence Epee until I started college. I still have all my gear.
