It was back on the trails this morning after too many household chores yesterday keeping me too busy to run. While the temperature was minus 5°, there was no wind & that makes all the difference at this time of year. I was still dressed relatively lightly & felt good. #running

Mortal Kombat. It's almost a good film. The first 2 acts work really well. The 3rd act is just a bit too weak to pull it all together. The cast is great. Everyone does a fun job with their characters. #film

The Naked Sun by Isaac Asimov. The 2nd of his robot series. I found this one far better than the 1st one. Elijah Bailey seems far more competent & less distracted by red herrings than in the 1st novel. However, there is not enough Daneel Olivaw as the plot calls for him to be absent a lot. #booksky

Kagemusha 影武者. A 1980 film by Akira Kurosawa that is pretty good. Only negative: it's a bit long at 3 hours & some shots seem to linger. The rest: all good, especially Tatsuya Nakadai who is incredible having to portray both a lord & a thief posing as the lord. #kurosawa

Sakamoto Days season 2. It's ultra violent. It's completely absurd. And yet, it's a lot of fun. This season picks up from the season 1 finale & does a good job building on that. Only minor note: it seems like Sakamoto himself was off screen a bit too much. The rest is still very good. #anime

Did a shorter run this afternoon as I had family obligations this evening. The trails were still damp from the rain yesterday, but that's ok. It's a bit softer on the joints. The sun is approaching its earliest sunset. It's dreary running in the dark. #running

I did a shorter run this morning. I had my Covid-19 & Flu vaccines yesterday. I feel just a bit tired. Still, I wanted to at least get a small run done today. Overall, it went well, though I was running a bit slower than normal. Saw 6 runners, waved hello. #running

Saw the 2016 film Star Trek Beyond for the 1st time. It's far better than Into Dumbness. The middle part does crawl. It picks up better at the end. But, the film's greatest flaw is our antagonist's motivations that, when revealed, don't seem to justify all that death & destruction. #startrek

Hataraki Man 働きマン, a J-Drama from 2007. It's fun & funny at times, heartbreaking, and while I know that it's pushing positively for the japanese work ethic, you can also interpret it as a rebuke of it. All of our actors do a great job, especially lead actress Miho Kanno. #jdrama

This afternoon's run went well. Despite being only 4°, there was no wind, so not cold. Some good news: for the 1st time in 5 months, the main spillway was flowing. That drought really hurt us. Met up with 1 runner, waved hello. Passed another runner, did not wave, feels snobbish to do that. #running

From my comics collection, the Famous 1st Edition that reprints All Star Comics #3, the 1st appearance of the Justice Society of America. This is a treasury size comic (it's huge) that really allows the reader to admire the art. #comics
