I tried it again this and it also didn't work so I used the sucker, I'm just assuming what I have is just trash quality.

From what I've seen you have to have your tip hot enough that it will melt the solder through the wick (i.e. you push the iron tip onto the wick which pushes onto the solder)

Reminder that being able to repair your electronics is cool and good

For 20 bucks, I was able to buy a 10 pack of headphone jack replacement parts and fix the broken one on my desktop so I didn't have to somehow find a whole front panel or buy a whole new case
