Yeah! I don't mulch every year due to cost but it definitely helps it look tidy as well, which is nice.

I'm doing it in segments so it will take a minute, and there is weeding and mulching to be done, but maybe by March the rose garden will look good again! 🌱 🌹

It's rose pruning time (which is a lot of work)... so on top of that I decided to re-stabilize the short flower bed brick wall 😆 Turns out when you rescue bricks that have sunk and the wall is a tad taller, there's a lot more opportunity to add mulch to the bed! 🌱

This is a really fun, imaginative series and I highly recommend it if you're a fan of urban fantasy with a cop procedural twist!

Yes! 8 years ago it was a new build lawn full of sand and junk. Time and mulch/compost and sprinkling organic fertilizer once or twice a year has really helped! There's even lots of earthworms 🪱 !!

I planted a bare root rose today (my first standard/tree form, excited!) and was pleased to see, while digging the hole, how dark and rich and lovely the soil in the garden bed has gotten these past few years. 🌱

Spent a few hours doing front yard garden cleanup this morning. Pruned off the dead from the freeze, raked, fertilized, reset my water timers. Feels good!

And, found a friend!! (I let him be.)

Today we spent time under water
(Scuba diving), scrubbing algea in exhibits at the aquarium, and it was a relief.

remember when everything was possibly cake and we were driven mad by the possibility that everything was cake? don't you wish everything was possibly cake now instead of probably ai? we were such fools to squander a cake-based reality.

Today we began this year's exciting new adventure: first shift as volunteer divers for the aquarium!!! (My orientation dive in the exhibit was also my first salt water dive.) So cool to be there!! Next time, we'll learn how to scrub the decor and clean the acrylic. 🐟 🪸 🌊 🦈 🤿
