I want more queer memoirs from this time period immediately

Oh she was an absolute catty bitch and became (or revealed herself to be) horrifically antisemitic in her old age. Part of the heartbreak of this book is seeing her in a constant state of self destruction and knowing where it all ends up. The bitch could WRITE though.

I recommend this book more than I can say! It’s a great little window into the pulp era. And now I want to go read all of the Vin Packer novels.

To be fair, I also would have let Patricia Highsmith destroy my life in 1960. Here she is with her favorite cat, Spider, who later ended up living with Muriel Spark when Highsmith moved to Europe. Every few years I go on an obsessive Highsmith spree and I’m afraid that time has come again.
