The end of season 4 of TNG ran, as a block: Q Who, Half A Life, The Drumhead, The Host, The Minds Eye, In Theory, and Redemption Pt. 1.

Those are some WILD swings in tone and content but they are also when the show was at its best no matter what the episodes are about.

Sadly true.

For reference, S1 of Discovery was an audacious failure, being daring and taking wild swings even if it didn't connect. But it did a lot more right than Voyager did.

The strike against Voyager is just that it was boring. It pretty much failed at whatever it was trying to do (which was never really clear) and looked pretty sad in the attempt.

Enterprise was similarly pathetic but it found its teeth in the last season by deciding to be a proper prequel.

I'll now be spending the rest of the night contemplating the universe where Star Wars flopped.

(To be clear I'm not one of 'em. I would pay real money to see Tom Paris get slapped.)

When you look at WB's track record with these things, it turns out to be wildly uneven: You can get a Donner Superman, or Superman IV. You can get a Dark Knight, or a Green Lantern.

Batman has the steadiest track record and studios are notoriously risk averse. Film makers have less to do with it.

Reminds me of a bus trip to Canada I was on as a kid. We started watching Anne of Green Gables.

By day 3 the whole bus was chanting "We Want Anne!" like maniacs.

Thanks. The great thing about MKD is that its the game for people who are terrible at fighting games because there is no execution barrier. You input your action, turn plays out, then you have time to decide your next move.

I'm kind an old fart but Ive always felt like SFA had the perfect level of mechanical complexity and anything more than that was just inaccessible.
