Championship Match 9 – Derby County 1 Southampton 1 When I looked at the two games we had coming up this week, away trips to Sheffield United and Derby, I set a target four points and was of course expecting the Sheffield United game to be the more difficult one, despite The Blades being lower in the League table. The target has been revised though because having won at Bramall Lane, we don’t want to waste that by dropping points today.

Unfortunately, there are some physically big strikers who can’t head the ball and can’t impose themselves of central defenders. It’s a bit of a myth that just because you’re quite big, you can do all these things.

Very poor result. Would’ve blown them away if Stewart had stayed on the pitch but the attacking intensity disappeared when he went off and the substitution to bring on Downs basically meant we played with 10. #saintsfc

Firstly, Sheffield United‘s new owners decided that 93 points and a narrow playoff final defeat was not enough and they wanted to bring in their own man as manager, so Chris Wilder was sacked.

Championship Match 7: Southampton 1 Middlesbrough 1 Have some of that! Middlesbrough visit St Mary’s in rude health, four points clear at the top of the league and I would expect, reassessing their ambitions for this season. Having been in the Championship since 2017 and having parted company with Michael Carrick at the end of last season, I expect they were looking for a season of consolidation but when you start the season with five wins and a draw out of six under manager Rob Edwards, sights tend to get readjusted.

Carabao Cup 3rd Round – Liverpool 2 Southampton 1 Looking Forward With Optimism To This Game A visit to Anfield in the Big Integrity Cup, otherwise known as the Carabao Cup. As we know from the way the draw was conducted, there is no integrity in this cup competition at all. The ever bloated European competitions meant that there was no space in the calendar for this round of games to be an open draw, so the European qualifying sides had to be kept apart so they could play on alternate midweek slots.

Championship Game 6 – Hull City 3 Southampton 1 Will watching THB and Stephens' version of defending. Memories of an important game in our promotion campaign a couple of years ago are stirred up today with a visit to the KC, KCOM, MKM Hull City Stadium to play Hull City. The ground isn't called all of those things but it's been named all of those things over the past ten years or so.

Very late preamble – Hull away Ruben watches his agent get the turd polish out for his CV. Memories of an important game in our promotion campaign a couple of years ago are stirred up today with a visit to the KC Stadium to play Hull City. Back then it was looking like a very unsatisfactory draw was on the cards until Wee Man superbly sweat Home a Flynn Downes pull back from the edge of the box to give us a late win.

As debut albums go, this is fantastic from Death of the High Street, my favourite band who you may not have heard of. As good as I wanted it to be. Very brave to not put on any of their previous brilliant selection of singles on it, and it 100% pays off.
