Championship Match 35 – Sheffield Wednesday 1 Southampton 3 THB Brings the Noise Sheffield Wednesday have been doomed to relegation since before the season started. The ridiculous ownership of Chansiri was always going to go just the one way. It had been building for years but with regards to this season, as soon as the they stopped paying their players on time in September, it just accelerated into a decline that left the club being plunged into administration, points deductions, selling any half-decent players that they still had, more points deductions and an inevitable run of defeats which leaves them bottom of the table, already relegated in February (which is the earliest relegation on record) and still on -7 points.

Championship Match 34 – Southampton 5 QPR 0 Little Man, Big Jump Queens Park Rangers visit Saint Mary’s tonight, and again that we really have to win after our failure to do so against Charlton at the weekend. Rangers arrive off the back of a very good away win at Hull, but without a few of the players who you would normally expect to cause us problems. Burrell and Chair are both injured, but the replacements obviously did a good enough job on Saturday.

It started off against Stoke, one of his former clubs of course and one whose fanbase thinks he is a complete and utter prick. The Jones boy had the last laugh though with a 1-0 win. FA Cup 4th Round – Southampton 2 Leicester 1 aet A bit of a placeholder blog which I will update once back from holiday…. It’s a case of come on you yellows at St Marys this afternoon as we play in our specially overpriced 1976 commemorative kit in the FA Cup 4th Round against Leicester City. Hang on, wasn’t too long ago we played them in the league. I, like many other Saints fans I imagine, am still buzzing about that.

Championship Match 32 – Leicester 0 Southampton 1 A kind of dull, uneventful game Time for a visit to the King Power to take on our old friends Leicester City, whom we defeated 3-0 at St Mary’s earlier in the season, during that glorious Tonda interim period. In all truth, it was probably the game that sealed the deal regarding getting the permanent job. At that time, Leicester were considered to be one of the favourites for an automatic spot and a return to the Premier League, but it hasn’t quite worked out that way, as they now find themselves one place above the relegation zone, largely due to the six-point deduction they finally received after about five years of financial fuckery.

The January Band-aid Transfer Window. Sensible Pruning and High Risk Gambling In the four years since they arriving at the club, the relationship between Sport Republic and transfer windows has been like the relationship between a elephants and laxatives. You just end up with a massive great pile of shit that takes years to clean up. Championship Match 27 – Southampton 1 Hull 2 Permanently Injured Striker The Only Crumb of Comfort The away game against Hull City earlier on this season was one of the more pivotal games that Saints have had so far. To refresh your memory, Saints, managed by Will Still, were abominably shit and got beaten 3-1, which was a scoreline that flattered us given that our consalation goal was scored in the 95th minute.

I feel that THB gets judged more harshly than the others because he tries to take responsibility and doesn’t try to hide. Makes mistakes sure, but I would take him over the three remaining others any day of the week.
