My fluffy white cat Francie curled up in a ball. Placed in the center of the white circle her body forms is a round piece of paper decorated with marker to look like a green human iris. It makes Francie look like a big hairy eyeball.

I don't like to dress cats up in clothes, but for Halloween I do put stealth costumes on Francie when she's sleeping.

A nearly microscopic bug that has a bulbous body, an ant-like head, and two long antennae crawls on a thin piece of wood which has a slime mold growing on it. The slime mold has a short white stalk and the top is a long cylindrical-shaped, reflective thing. It looks like a small bean but reflects a faint blue, green and purple in the light.

Every day is #UKFungusDay for me.

So, turns out I will be getting chemotherapy and radiation therapy after all. The next 3 months I'll be doing chemo, starting the 14th. Not looking forward to it, but better than cancer.

Anyway, here's a Russula for the #mushrooms folks, from Second Beach last month.

Most cup fungi don't fluoresce a lot, but ultraviolet light reveals unusual chemistry in this unknown Helotiales from Monteverde, Costa Rica.

Cancer update. My first day of artificial menopause has gone completely normally. No trouble yet.

However, I will be getting radiation therapy this fall/winter. Still no final word on chemo.

Autumn is slowly making its way to the Netherlands. Can't wait to work on my Mushrooms in their Natural World Series again next month.
