Inhumanoids Granites! These rocky Mutores live in a sophisticated & politically complex society located in the Earth’s mantle. Once upon a time the figure’s limbs could be pulled to the front & back to help disguise them as a pile of rocks though ever-perishing rubber makes that a dicey move today

They are magnificent. And it’s a cheap way to get an expensive and amazing toy. Slippery slope though…

No, Visionaries was a years later (Super Sunday/Saturday was Inhumanoids, Bigfoot & the Muscle Machines, Robotix and Jem)

And the scientists were supposed to be the affordable ones and they were still pricey! Not the only line that made the mistake of not having any entry-level stuff around that time (see also Bravestarr and Centurions) but one of the saddest losses

Robotix was also excellent. Just a shame the toys don’t have much in common with the toon.

You can capture Earth Corps scientists in D’Compose’s ribcage though they’re a bit big for it. I’ll always maintain that Inhumanoids should have had a basic unarmoured human size class. Same size & price as basic GI Joes to give kids an affordable entry point & make the big toys even more impressive

You’ve got a lot of Edmontonia bits too which is also expensive (harder to get a body though). I do love the line but don’t collect it as the mix of being VERY expensive and very frail puts me off. Transformerland has a good guide for Dino Riders parts ID:

Depends on how patient you’re feeling but with a lil work there’s a goldmine there. Eg you’ve got most if not all the bits for the stegosaurus which does £200+. If you pick up a body (cheapest on eBay is £35 though you can get them for around £25) it’s a good investment. Some other choice bits too

3/3 🧵 (what the animation model is based on) though somewhere along the line it gained a lot of horse-like attributes. Whilst a horse skull is quite heavy metal the effect of the big-eyed vinyl sculpt combined the rooted hair makes him look a bit like he has the skull of a My Little Pony

2/2 D’Compose is grotesquely awesome & you can tell they had a lot of fun with the ragged, worm-infested body. The ribs open up to reveal his guts & act as a cage. It’s a bit small for Earth Corps scientists though works well with GI Joes. The head was envisioned as a dinosaur skull…

The Lord of Skellweb slithers out from the Earth’s crust under cover of darkness to spread his putrid necrotic contagion. His one command - D’COMPOSE!!!!!

D’Compose captures are human sighing his ribcage. Can’t imagine it smells particularly nice in there…

With one simple command (D’Compose!!!) the luckless soldier is reduced to a skeletal horror, a zombie completely under the foul control of D’Compose. These undead legions (represented by some junker Skeleton Warriors) are almost unstoppable though thankfully sunlight can cure the condition

Transformers Powertrain! "If I can't go through it, I go over it!" I gave him the power to billow out a smokescreen from his smokestack like in the comic & his weird arms gave him the ability to do powerful punches capable of knocking down full-sized Transformers. Other bots would often skate on him

Knifton was particularly good at staying on-model whilst adding a wonderful dynamism. You can *feel* the Devastator clone shattering into the Earth. Great work.

My inspiration - “Desert Island Risks!” from issue 264 of the Marvel UK Transformers comic. How cool is that? Art by the criminally underrated Pete Knifton (who I’m sure would be regarded as one of the greats of the comic if his work hadn’t been limited to the Earthforce stories)

Inhumanoids Herc Armstrong! This renowned geologist & spelunker is the daring leader of The Earth Corp. Armed with a grappling hook with 1000ft of cable, equally useful for rappelling & Inhumanoid wrangling. His code name is “Hooker” which goes nicely with his fetching red panties & epic badonkadonk

It’s a loanword from French that kept the pronunciation. Fantastique!

Inferno is a lot rarer than the other two Heroics which seems odd. Not sure on the case assortment numbers but maybe he wasn’t different enough or it was too close to the Euro Classic release. Still, will always be fond of him as he was my first Inferno.

As well as being a DELICIOUS pun these brilliant scientists & explorers are Earth’s last line of defence against the Inhumanoids (least they could do seeing as they woke them up!). Herc Armstrong, Bright, Liquidator & Auger look weird & wonderful in their environmental suits

Transformers Tote! Tote’s adorable! Motto: “A rolling Autobot gathers the most Decepticons.” Inspired by his motto & the UK comic story “Desert Island Risks!” where Ironhide destroys a facsimile of Devastator by driving through its leg I gave Tote the power of taking out legs. Also a rocket pack!

They grow out of this thing. Pretty metal indeed!

Ah, the great Mexican IGA Transformers influx. I miss market stalls like that. One on my market had MOTU Eternias (!) though I couldn’t afford one even at market prices. Almost completely gone now as the grey import lines have dried up, alas.

My personal recommendation for acid reflux is to have a raw carrot before or with your meal. Pretty much changed my life. Works so well for me that I no longer need to take any kinda of antacid. Plus they are good for you and aid in a Bugs Bunny impression.

Yeah I’m 90% sure they never got an official UK release though they did turn up as imports on markets and in discounters.

In a dappled glade the branches of three unusual tree trunks gently sway in the breeze… except there isn’t any breeze… the start to freak and moan…

… transforming into The Redwoods! Three gnarled, goblin-like tree creatures have come to life! The leader Redlen, hot-headed young scout Redsun and a generic dude named Redwood the Race (handy, I guess)

The Redwoods can grow from stumpy proportions to a towering tree-like stature (…ok, they’re still kinda stumpy)

The Inhumanoid Tendril attacks the Redwood forest and the Redwoods scramble to protect their home!

In the glade of the Redwoods! Creaking branches aren’t just the wind in this forest - it’s The Redwoods! These Mutores are tasked with protecting the forest & keeping the Inhumanoids imprisoned (they generate the amber that traps D’Compose). They aren’t fond of humans though will fight to protect us
