✅ Strengthen state fiscal stability and give lawmakers time to thoughtfully consider major federal tax shifts before they automatically take effect here in Massachusetts

This bill offers a proactive way for Massachusetts to:

✅ Protect critical revenue by delaying and refining how federal tax changes are adopted into state law
✅ Preserve funding for essential services that support our communities

Without thoughtful state policy, these federal changes would result in large revenue losses for Massachusetts — disproportionately benefiting the wealthiest households and corporations while leaving everyday families behind.

In his testimony, Phineas stated that the bill takes steps towards protecting the Commonwealth from bearing the full brunt of the deep tax cuts enacted at the federal level in last summer’s sweeping “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (OB3).

With harmful federal cuts looming, #FairShare alone won’t be enough. The state has options to raise revenue responsibly — from closing corporate tax loopholes to local housing tools.

#FairShare continues to make a real difference. The proposal supports investments in #education & #transportation, including #childcare provider grants, free RTA buses, free school meals, and the final year of the Student Opportunity Act. #mapoli
