The gals are only enemies with the largest government to ever exist, no big deal.
It was never really intentional, they just kinda fell into it over time.

Ah, it's one of my favorite bits from this book!
(Excerpt from FHSD Book 2: Sink Deep, Rise Higher)
Fly High Sink Deeper is a sci-fi series set in the 5030s. A story about women who love women learning who they are, who they want to be, and how to use that to destroy a fascist theocracy. Drama, humor and horror, all wrapped in a compelling far future setting!

To an extent, but they're much less powerful.
She can use hypnosis to manipulate people into doing things she wants, but she can't simply wave a hand and make things happen instantly.
Most of my characters would probably just wait, though some would be more grumbly than others.
Mirideth, however, would simply tell the worker that she didn't have to wait, and the worker would agree, unwillingly.
Here's a Health to the Company.
Always that for all of FHSD.
Not sure why, but it just always has been to me.
Calling your member of congress only takes a minute, you can probably leave a message without having to talk to anyone, and you can find your representative with this handy website.

Oh that's so neat! I love it!

Transgender people are fully accepted and respected as the gender they say they are, without question, and with legal protection.
...but if they want to medically transition, they're an abomination in the eyes of the Church of the Saint of the New Dawn and must be 'purified' by any means necessary.

Maria and Mirideth talk about something deeply intimate, that most people will never experience...

Exactly the point!

It happens, pretty often, but not usually to important characters.
If an important character dies, it needs to be a huge deal that changes the entire story permanently.
I've only done a single MAJOR character death in 4.5 books so far.(In book 4)
Minor characters die much more often.
I once wrote a short story entirely without narration. Just dialogue and the POV characters' real-time thoughts. It was interesting, but ultimately kinda confusing and weird.

A silly thing I find interesting in FHSD is the difference between a civilization being space-faring or star-faring.
A space-faring civilization has colonized some or all of their system. Thousands exist.
A star-faring civilization is capable of fast interstellar travel. Only one of these exists.
Indeed she is!

This is an attack on human rights.
Kansas is stripping trans people of their drivers licence unless they change it to the wrong gender.
This will make it so they canβt drive and canβt vote.
Get loud.
If they can take rights away from trans people, they can take them from you.

Ladiziar and Kinekial prepare to do their job...
(Excerpt from FHSD Book 4: Stand Tall and Shatter)
When you choose indie sapphic romance over trad published romance, you get an actual gay female protagonist who doesn't just kiss one girl then choose the boy. You get a wildly imaginative story that would never pass through a traditional publishing house.

Lucia and Lolanene have a heavy conversation shortly after they first meet...
(Excerpt from FHSD Book 1: Fly High, Sink Deeper)
Mirideth treats others as pawns, objects to be used for whatever purpose, then discarded. They aren't real to her. In her mind, the only real person that actually matters is her.
This very much changes, as she meets and falls in love with Maria, discovering that others are just as real as she is.

22.02.2026 22:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The bed was incredibly comfortable, though less so given Lucia was still wearing all her clothes. It hadnβt felt right to disrobe in what was essentially Niarithβs home. The revelations of the past hours played in her mind over and over. She was in a βshipβ, floating freely in the Heavens themselves, her world far below. It was madness, it was impossible, but here she was, nonetheless. She had failed in her mission. The Corruptor was still alive. But this woman, this Niarith, claimed they could still stop her. But to do so, theyβd need to perform the impossible feat of penetrating the Void itself. Lucia groaned in exasperation. None of this made any sense. How could everything sheβd been taught, everything sheβd ever believed, be wrong? How could her people have been wrong? All this time? If there were others, somehow, beyond the Void, what did that mean for Hearthea? Where did these others come from? Hearthea was the sole home of humanity, created by the Void in desperation. β¦Wasnβt it? It had to be. Sheβd always been taught as such. Butβ¦ Niarith and her bizarre, unbelievable technology said otherwise. Niarithβs Forsythian was spoken with an accent that Lucia had never heard before. No one in Forsythe had technology like this. No one anywhere on Hearthea did. That left one logical conclusion: Niarith was from another world. Which would meanβ¦ that others did indeed exist. Which threw everything Lucia had ever believed into question. Which created a terrifying possibility. The possibility that Niarith was right.
I've been working on and off on something I'm very excited about...
That something being a rewrite of my original two books, to make them more cohesive with the rest of the series in terms of both setting and writing quality.
This is an excerpt from a completely new chapter in book 1!
