I think about this post a lot.

For all this talk of freedom we have none, and never had. There is no agency, our hands can never touch the wheels of power. The only freedom we have been given out of pity by our slavemasters is the freedom to inflict the terror of our helplessness as cruelty upon those considered even lesser.

I’m happy to report that one of my friends who went through this, who is like a sister to me, now works with children as a social worker, as does her husband. She understands the importance of showing compassion to children.
