Dr Owen Ko is an Assistant Dean (Research) of CU Medicine, Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, and Director of the Gerald Choa Neuroscience Institute at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on the pathogenesis of age-related neurological disorders and the development of therapeutics to slow brain degeneration. His team has shown that an existing drug can counteract age-related deterioration in the brain and across the body, and has developed several new brain imaging tools. Together with close collaborators, Dr Ko is translating basic science discoveries into clinical advances, bringing hope to patients with age-related cerebrovascular diseases. His contributions have been recognised with multiple honours, including the 2020 Croucher Innovation Award (Croucher Foundation), the 2021 Excellent Young Scientists Fund (National Natural Science Foundation of China), the 2022 Sir David Todd Lectureship (Hong Kong College of Physicians), selection as a 2023 Life Science Fellow (Asian Young Scientist Fellowship), and the 2023 Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Persons. Apart from Dr Owen KO, Prof Jason YAM, Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology of CUHK was also elected as new Member of YASHK. Congratulations again!
