@barackobama.bsky.social: "When I was POTUS, I suppose I could have simply unilaterally ordered the military to go into some red state and harass and intimidate a governor or cut off funding for states that didn't vote for me... but that is contrary to how I think our democracy is supposed to work."

Who would have believed that after what happened 4 years ago today, we would be here. That the American people voted for this. I will never understand it.

Three images of the planet Saturn: a striped brown and white ball with a distinctive ring around it. The images were taken by Kevin Earp from 2022 to 2024 showing the tilt of the planet changing over time.
Full Credit to the amazing Kevin for this image @astrokev.bsky.social
Astronomy friends, what night sky events are you looking forward to in 2025? π
In π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ we've got 2 lovely total lunar eclipses (14 Mar & 7 Sept) and a 40% partial solar eclipse (29 Mar).
I'm also super excited about Saturn temporarily losing it's rings in March π€

The Moon at waxing gibbous phase on a dark background.
I've had so many new followers this year and especially lately a reintroduction. I take pictures of the night sky and daytime sky when the weather allows. I eat considerable quantities of chocolate when it's cloudy. One of my pics. π π§ͺ #astrophotography #photography

An ochre toned photography of a Martian landscape, with elements of the tail of the Perseverance rover in the foreground
Perseverance rover has reached the top of the rim of Jezero Crater! On this picture captured 4 hours ago we can see the west side of the rim, a landscape never seen before to the rover, on the left, and the east side, that Percy has already explored, on the right.

Slightly out of focus Andromeda. This galaxy has my heart, even if the surrounding stars are a little blurry. You can easily see the bulge, and a haze around it coming from the stellar disk.
The Pleiades! A number of bright, blue stars are dotted around the image. They have a little blue haze around them too. A number of fainter stars can be seen as well, and they are much better focused than the last image!
The scorpion cluster! There are stars all over this image, but in the centre, you see an offer density of stars which belong to this item cluster.
The pacman nebula! This one has had some filters applied to bring out the haze of the nebula. Here it appears slightly red in the outskirts and a bit green on the centre (to my eyes). It is vaguely pacman shaped, hence the name
Bluesky team! It finally happened! I used my Seestar for the first time and it was AMAZING!
I haven't really worked out all the tricks yet, so these are the straight up images of what I got (including the out of focus Andromeda from the start of the night) πβ¨π€©
