I came out as gay in 1982 as the aids epidemic hit. The way trans people are being demonised now is the exact same bigoted playbook which was used against gay men in the 1980s. It was a terrible time, my first lover died, but we came out the other side stronger as a community. Don't lose hope.

Migrant commits violent crime - Migrants are violent criminals & a threat to women and children.

Reform UK - we should stop all refugees and asylum seekers coming to the UK.
Also Reform UK - we should bomb Iran as part of Trump's illegal war and create thousands of refugees fleeing the destruction caused by the UK military.

A personal milestone and yet more good polling news
Iβm going to start on a personal note. Almost eight years after we got married and over ten years that we have been together, my husband has finally become a British, or should I say Scottishβ¦
My latest blog piece, some good personal news thanks in part to vindictive right wing Britnat trolls who unwittingly took the bait, more good polling news for May's Holyrood election, & a shout out to @indyvoices.bsky.social who is quoted in the piece.

It's a shame Kaye Adams has been sacked. I would pay good money to see the look on her face if she had to report a BBC poll with a 60% Yes vote.

In BBC Scotland's afternoon politics show they just said the partner of a Labour MP had been arrested. They did not identify the MP even though it was public knowledge at that point.

Humiliation for BBC Scotland as its own poll shows a Yes majority
BBC Scotland has done one of its pre-election polls to tell us what Scotland βreally thinksβ as we go into the Scottish election in nine weeks time. On Tuesday, BBC Scotland unveiled itβ¦
I wasn't going to blog again today but some stories can't be missed - BBC Scotland has been humiliated as its own polling shows a lead for independence, a Yes majority when don't knows are removed. Pacific Quay is in full on damage limitation mode.

BBC Scotland can't bring itself to say support for indy is greater than opposition to it, though its own poll puts yes on 47% and no on 44%, 51.6% Yes with don't knows removed. Ever since yes started to lead consistently in polls the line from the BBC has been Scotland is divided on independence.

Funny how politicians who are most keen on whining about immigration and refugees and asylum seekers are also very keen on starting the wars that create refugees and asylum seekers.

If Anas Sarwar has been told not to commentate on UK politics, how exactly does he expect us to believe he'll function as a First Minister? Westminster will make some awful policy decision and the FM will go - "I'm not allowed to talk about that."

Labour's Scottish election campaign conference. A few dozen people in a mostly empty auditorium.
A picture paints a thousand words, Labour's Scottish campaign conference is a picture of a demoralised and defeated party. Hold your nose and vote Labour is not the winning slogan Anas Sarwar hopes it is. It's the last desperate plea from a dying party. Westminster rule in Scotland dies with Labour.

Starmer is not taking the defeat in Gorton & Denton at all well. In brief, it's not Labour's fault that it lost badly, it's all the fault of the beastly Greens for being endorsed by George Galloway. This does not bode well for the Labour party in the months ahead.

The schadenfruede is strong today about Matt Goodwin losing heavily to the Greens in Gorton & Denton. I can't imagine the levels of twattishness it takes to spend months punching down on British Muslims and then being upset that they didn't vote for you.

Yes, a lot of countries don't allow dual citizenship. Luckily my husband's country (USA) does so he's able to get dual citizenship. He has to go back to America for his work occasionally so if he'd had to give up his US citizenship it wouldn't have been an option for us.

That's hardly surprising given the shameful state of the media in Scotland. They'd rather see Scotland fall into the clutches of English nationalist fascists than become independent.

We just coughed up Β£3700 in Home Office and lawyer fees to get my husband British citizenship. It was not easy to scrape the money together but we couldn't risk not doing it.
