Sadly that's probably about/average for a 2/3 bed place in Westminster.

More than happy to condemn Tories for lies and corruption but not sure this is it.

The whole expenses system stinks. I had hoped for wide ranging sweeping changes but sadly more of the same under Labour. Hugely disappointed

If this deal holds, if it goes beyond the 1st phrase, if all of the hostages on both side are released, if Israel withdraws its troops & doesn't resume bombing, if aid gets in, then I'll give Trump credit.

But I count 5 "ifs" above. Let's see. Trump always tends to disappoint.

Democrats have voted repeatedly to reopen the government, and prevent 15 million Americans from losing their health care and premiums from skyrocketing for millions more.

Republicans voted against it each time.

Yes, facts are stubborn things.

I love that we live in a world where we're all supposed to now praise Trump for his peace-making and ignore the fact that at least 20,000 Palestinians have been killed on his watch, with bombs & bullets - & rhetorical support! - that he supplied to Israel.
That's all erased now.

Young lives cut short on an unimaginable scale: the 18,457 children on Gaza’s list of war dead The children’s names below appear on a list of victims of Israel’s offensive in Gaza, maintained by health authorities in the territory. As of the end of July it ran to 60,199 names, of whom 18,457 were under 18s. Far from comprehensive, the list does not include the thousands still buried under the rubble of destroyed buildings, as well as the war’s many indirect victims As of the end of July there were 18,457 children named on the long official list of Palestinian victims of Israel’s war in Gaza. Over almost two years, that is equivalent to bombs, bullets and shells killing a boy or girl every hour of every day. In reality the deaths are not spaced out so evenly. Siblings, cousins and playmates are often killed together, by an airstrike or artillery shell. Even children shot by snipers or quadcopters are sometimes brought into hospitals in groups, doctors say. Continue reading...

I thought Trump had single handedly averted a nuclear war between India and Pakistan? How can they hate him so much?

He should be blindly worshipped as a god as some of the MAGA nutters do. Surely will get a Nobel prize by the end of the year....

The world laughed at us in 2016.

The world stares on in horror at us in 2025.

We can fix this. But we have to take action. Now. The sooner the better.

"The people of Smethwick certainly don't want integration" was the view of Tory Peter Griffiths in his notorious 1964 election contest, explaining why he would never criticise children chanting *that* slogan about n-word neighbours

("Integration" in 1964 as 'woke' social engineering+race mixing)

The same lines were being used by the National Front/BNP. It's like nothing has changed. Was just hidden for a decade or two.

They fail to mention they had to live in certain areas as they had little money and landlords would not rent to them elsewhere and the racists who left in white flight...

No sudden rupture is now required for the far right to take power in this country. For what we're seeing is a steady normalisation of extremists by the Conservative and Labour Parties, BBC, Telegraph, Mail and others. A shift once considered unthinkable beings to look acceptable, even inevitable.🧡

Jenrick could have visited Handsworth to listen to residents – he chose to pass through and make a judgement based on the colour of their skin. Instead of getting to know our nation of neighbours, he chose racism.

The Tories, Reform and Labour want to divide us.

The Greens say enough is enough.

Calling out Reform’s racism will ring hollow while Labour offers watered-down versions of their migration policies.

We can only prevent a Reform-led government if we do not allow migrants to be scapegoated for problems created by the super rich.

Sunder Katwala on race, patriotism and flag-waving: β€˜The far right is vocal and angry because it is shrinking’ The director of British Future has spent his career trying to find common ground when it comes to race and immigration. I spoke to British Future's Sunder Katwala, who was a refreshing antidote to all the far right rhetoric on immigration, flags, etc. Britain is not nearly as divided as extremists suggest, he says, and we're "a generation ahead" when it comes to multiculturalism.

The thing that is really being "replaced" is money.

Things we owned - infrastructure, property, land... - are being handed over to foreigners.

That's how we are losing our country

Brexit made us poorer and speeded this up.

Those selling our country deflect & distract by pointing at brown people.

Robin Williams daughter Zelda is pleading with people to stop creating AI videos of her Dad.

I’m pleading with you to stop using generative AI.

It’s destructive to the environment.

It’s destructive to artists.

It’s destructive to humanity.

It steals from us and churns out slop.

Just stop.

Damn. This is amazing. Β£325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

Thing is, if you’re a lawyer and a Tory - maybe you’re even a Tory peer - and you fail to speak out very clearly and publicly against this stuff, you’re signalling for all to see that you’re at best comfortable with fascism and the destruction of the rule of law
