I’m sorry, what reality-eating brainworm is this, Ezra Klein?

This is a good illustration of how far right views are being mainstreamed in the UK. Johnson says Charlie Kirk didn’t have extremist views. This is the same Charlie Kirk who said black people were better off under slavery and pushed the far right β€˜Great Replacement’ conspiracy theory.

Keir Starmer is in freefall. 14 months into his Premiership he is a disastrous leader with no vision, no ability to lead & inspire a team, and no story to tell. He cannot lead Labour into the next election. And if he does not go soon he should be challenged. Labour & the UK cannot go on like this.

net immigration fell by more than half last year and the politics has gone in the complete opposite direction. It's not really about the numbers

This is precisely what this decision will do. It will absolutely render women and children radically unsafe, and closes YET ANOTHER safe and legal route. All so that a far-right mob are appeased and a far right discourse is fully entertained, in all sense of that word.

The reasons for Kate’s announcement are valid but also sad, we have so far to go in making politics accessible for people who have families. We’re losing too many women to the pressures imposed on family life in politics.

Good luck to Kate and her family.

Last night's M8.8 quake in the Pacific was easily detected in #Edinburgh . The gravity meter rattled against its end stops and then got stuck; I will try to unstick it later today. ( #geophysics #seismology ) (1/3)

Another day, another slaughter of desperate Palestinians looking for food, as Western leaders fall over themselves to express renewed support for Israel.

Kindness will always win. Fiercely advocating for people will always win. Fiercely defending our hard won human and workers’ rights will always enrich people.

Send Farage and his bigoted politics packing - vote SNP this Thursday in Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse. Let kindness win.

Thank you.

Politics can be harsh. Mum didn’t like that, she showed her kindness but she was fierce in standing up for the voiceless, for human rights, for Scotlands cause to take our place among the nations of the world.

03.06.2025 16:42 β€” πŸ‘ 6    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Mum always put kindness above everything. She was kind to everyone, she encouraged everyone who she came across and we all know those hugs. I’m missing that so much just now.

There will be no greater outcome for us as family to see Katy win this by-election for the SNP.

03.06.2025 16:42 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It is no secret that I believe the SNP candidate, Katy Loudon, is the best possible person to succeed mum. I don’t say that simply because I am an SNP member, I say because I’ve known Katy for sometime and she does truly have peoples interests at heart.

03.06.2025 16:42 β€” πŸ‘ 12    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Nigel Farage and Reform are not your friends - they are your manipulators.

Farage and Reform prey on the misery of people failed time and time again by successive Westminster Governments.

Farage has brought about part of that misery with Scotland being pulled out of the EU against its will.

03.06.2025 16:42 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Mum would be the first to call it out as the anti-racist and anti-fascist she was - she did not tolerate intolerance, particularly intolerance being espoused by rich bankers from the elitist class like Nigel Farage who would strip away your workers’ rights and access to the NHS in a heartbeat.

03.06.2025 16:42 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Mum would be outraged at the racism that has been displayed by Reform UK in their horrendous advert targeting Anas Sarwar. Their nasty and bigoted politics have no place in Scotland.

03.06.2025 16:42 β€” πŸ‘ 11    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I think how her kindness and affection for uplifting people, going above and beyond to support those most in need has been repaid in same kindness she bestowed upon everyone.

This by-election should not be happening, our mum should still be here with us.

03.06.2025 16:42 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Having been out a few times to help campaign for Katy Loudon, it’s been lovely to hear how much mum was loved and valued - and this is coming from constituents. That is unusual for a politician.

03.06.2025 16:42 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Mum didn’t live in HLS; she was born and lived in the east end of Glasgow her entire life. She experienced hardship growing up in Easterhouse - she gave her absolute all to represent the people of HLS; I truly believe she was loved by her constituents, even the ones from opposition parties.

To see hundreds of SNP members pull in from across Scotland to campaign in the constituency mum represented for 14 years has meant an awful lot.

Also to the First Minister, John Swinney, who we were are very lucky to have as our party leader. I thank John for the energy and commitment he has brought to this by-election and in mums memory, her legacy.

As polling day draws near in the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election, I wanted to share some thoughts.

My family and I have been heartened by the fantastic effort of SNP members to win this by-election following the death of mum.

Farage has no solutions for working people.

He would cut Scotland’s budget, while the SNP is putting your priorities first:

βœ… Scrapping peak rail fares
βœ… Delivering more NHS appointments
βœ… Restoring winter fuel payments
