Dial-up Internet to be discontinued AOL routinely evaluates its products and services and has decided to discontinue Dial-up Internet. This service will no longer be available in AOL plans. So apparently we are within the last 60 days of dial-up AOL being a thing.

so as it turns out dvr on linux only works best *specifically* with dedicated gpus. and not with any dedicated gpu, only with *nvidia*!

and this is on a pc which otherwise handles dvr very well!
on windows it works just fine! so that's one reason why i'm still not fully getting rid of windows yet

for one, i had to install the amd opencl drivers separately *via* the terminal. then resolve studio will open and im able to do basic editing but then after a while my whole system just freezes and i have to hard reset

so just to give an idea on how trash davinci resolve's linux support is

the free version on linux does not support h264, but the studio version does. so i tried the studio version

this has especially been more and more in my thoughts with recent events going on both on the internet and just the uncertainty on my side irl

been lately thinking of eventually getting an external ssd/hdd as a proper reliable means to store my data (including my entire local archive) and repurposing my current ""archive pc"" for something else 🤔
