Well, the specs have been released on the Zeekr 7X!
It starts at $57,990 AUD, is loaded with tech (including V2L) and charges in 13 minutes! And that's just the entry level one!
Video coming tomorrow with estimated NZD prices. Should be good. 😁

Electric cars under spotlight in real world range tests | News | Open Road | The NRMA EVs tested in Australia’s Real World Testing Program show less range than advertised, while hybrids and utes exceed fuel use and emissions standards in real-world driving.

Electric vehicles are now under the magnifying glass of the Real World Testing Program, which aims to give drivers more understanding of how much fuel their cars actually use – or in the case of #EVs, how much range they actually offer.

Yes, kei cars are very popular there but our culture and roads are very different. It’s the same as Europe where there are tiny streets where only tiny cars can go down. And of course a lot more people (and cars) in much smaller countries.

There is an argument to ditch fuel excise and replace with weight based road user fees. This would discourage oversized battery electric cars also (I don’t disagree with this!)

The cult of large cars, and increasingly larger, in Australia is going to be a tough nut to crack

Honda has promised an EV in 2026 - the most likely candidate is the e:Ny1. Another mid-sized SUV - what do you think?

Already have a 22 model but I’d consider it? I like the roof but it is extra hot in summer (yes, I use climate to counter that)

Most nickel is used for stainless steel. According to this chart, 15% is used for batteries. An estimated 80% of that is used for EVs, so about 12%. (LFP not inc in nickel share here is about half that of EVs with nickel chem) - links to follow

It chooses the shortest range EV on the market πŸ˜… by default… also appears hybrid drivers do not need to stop at all on 9.5 hour drive

Oc, PHEVs need regular charging to achieve promised fuel efficiency - and they're not always a cheaper choice than BEVs

The grid is better served by EVs soaking up solar in the middle of the day and being able to discharge during peak periods … that is what will help reduce the need to upgrade transmission lines

That said, I love how a lot of streets in inner Sydney have been quietened compared to 30 years ago when I lived there, eg Bourke and Crown - focus on bike lanes and areas for cafe tables where there used to be parking etc

Japan is a tiny country and tiny streets with a lot more people living very close together…. I am not convinced that is a relevant comparison
