and, finally, i’m not a monster. i will be downloading my archives, and hope to have a blog post up with a decent chunk of my tweets by the end of June. that blog post will include all my predictions, even if they’re bad predictions, because i’m not a coward.

in the meantime, those of you who want to stay in touch should reach out via dm, or follow me on tumblr or substack if you’re there too. i’d be happy to keep chatting, though i am an introvert so you should not expect too much lol.

i do wish i could stay here, in some ways. i’ve met a lot of nice people in my time here, and the community that existed back in pre-elon twitter was actually quite enjoyable. if another golden age comes, i will be back. but i don’t expect it soon.

however, this change will only work if i get off the shortforms. it is too easy for me, when i’m on these sites, to go right back to my old habits and start screaming at people once more. thus, i plan to remain on the longforms going forward, where i can think and write longer.

(and to be clear, i do still have strong positions that i think many of you will disagree with. just, i’ve found my ethical footing again and am not being as reflexively oppositional as i was.)

over the last few months in particular, i’ve managed to find strong but considered positions, and feel less like i’m drowning looking for a framework than i used to. now that i have someplace to stand, i expect to cool off a fair amount, and become capable of being kinder again.

in particular, i regret my defense of Jay Jones. while i still stand against the overly cooperative strategies of many democrats, i have come to fully reject the emotion of bloodlust as any sort of defense, and thus i find what he said - especially given its extent - to be wrong.

and this caused me to take bad stances in order to deliberately anger rationalists (or anti-rationalists) into agreeing with me or something. for someone with “reflexive contrarianism” among my main criticisms of the rationalist community, i sure did a lot of it.

i am very embarrassed by some of the things i’ve said on these accounts. in particular, over the last year, i’ve been processing an acute sense of betrayal i’ve felt towards the rationalist community, while still participating and loving many aspects of it,

to put it bluntly, i am not the type of person who can use shortform social media wisely. it places rapidfire bursts of content in front of me that cause me to take a reactive stance and inevitably end up crashing out publicly.

(note: a lot of this thread is more aimed at my twitter audience, here a lot of you are probably already closer to my newer views. but i have crashed out at some of you still in ways i regret, so,)
