A *plurality* in Dearborn (which is not a county) voted for Trump. Trump did not so much gain votes as Harris lost them, and there is no indication that Trump carried the Muslim or Arab votes (which are of course not the same thing)

Except Mamdani didn’t have to run as an independent because he won the Democratic primary.

The reluctance to endorse him serves no purpose other than spite over his non endorsement of Harris, which had no effect on the actual presidential election.

Leaving aside that Mamdani had no material effect on the general election, he was not a party official. He was not beholden to them.

Schumer and Jeffries, on the other hand, are the leaders of the party and have been reluctant to endorse the chosen candidate
