(Mamdani left Uganda with his family when he was five. As well, Uganda is a majority Christian country, and the anti-gay laws are a product of the influence of US-based evangelical movements)
Maher isn’t just being racist here he’s being super racist

And Harris lost in several other counties without large Arab or Muslim communities
Harris
Won
New
York.
By a million votes.
Huh

BTW Omar is in Minnesota. How’d Harris do there?
A *plurality* in Dearborn (which is not a county) voted for Trump. Trump did not so much gain votes as Harris lost them, and there is no indication that Trump carried the Muslim or Arab votes (which are of course not the same thing)

Mamdani was not a nationally known figure in 2024. He had no impact on the general election. None.

Mamdani was virtually unknown outside New York last year. He supported the effort to leave the vote “blank” in the primary, when Harris wasn’t running!
My daughter Alma is starving. Today she ate a piece of a rotten sweet potato — all we had. Her tiny body is weak, her eyes full of fear. I’m terrified I might lose her, not to bombs, but to hunger. Please, help us survive. 💔

Except Mamdani didn’t have to run as an independent because he won the Democratic primary.
The reluctance to endorse him serves no purpose other than spite over his non endorsement of Harris, which had no effect on the actual presidential election.
So what

26.10.2025 12:25 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Leaving aside that Mamdani had no material effect on the general election, he was not a party official. He was not beholden to them.
Schumer and Jeffries, on the other hand, are the leaders of the party and have been reluctant to endorse the chosen candidate
