THRILLED to have the opportunity to read @ecow0rrier.bsky.social 's recently-launched After the Clearances, a chillingly plausible imagined aftermath of our intensifying climate catastrophe. Find a spot by the sea, or in the woods, and feel the world differently as you peel back the pages ππ²

Met a very young author at Newark Book Festival today. Take a look at Abigail Humphries' gorgeous book, Team Of 7, about superheroes! π¦Έβ‘οΈ
I particularly love the dedication; it's proof, in my opinion, that kids + books = marvelous things β¨οΈ
Are you in Newark on Sunday for Newark Book Festival? Are you aged 9 or over? Do you love writing? You're in luck! I'll be running a 'Writing The World' walking and writing workshop through Newark's town centre and green spacesπΆπβ¨οΈ

Apparently, Nuneaton is the furthest point from any UK coast. For that very reason, my character, Gavin, buys a house there. Every time I pass the motorway sign, I think of him, so last week I decided to stop and look around. It really felt like I'd come to visit a friend... Is that weird? π€

A beautifully strange meditation on climate collapse, displacement, and the meaning of home.

Sepia background of the sea with cover of book on right reading: The Water That May Come - a girl bottom centre watches the waves rise. Quote reads: Warmhearted yet dark. Amy Lilwall creates a world that is instantly relatable, populated by eccentric but engaging characters pushed to their limits by an extreme existential threat. It held me rapt from start to finish.
Delighted to have our first endorsement through for upcoming speculative novel 'The Water That May Come' by the talented @amylilwall.bsky.social ! Alison Layland, Author of 'Riverflow', 'After the Clearances' and 'Someone Elseβs Conflict' immerses herself in this near-future Britain...

This week, we are running the University of Lincoln MFA in Creative Writing & Publishing Residency at the beautiful Riseholme campus. There's some great writing happening, but most exciting of all are the cows splish-splashing in the lake by our classroom! Idyllic or what? ππͺ»
