04.06.2025 00:15 β π 17 π 5 π¬ 0 π 2Finished a big writing project, so you know what that meansβ¦ Popeyeβs. Not sure why I only eat Popeyeβs once I finish a big writing thing, but Iβm into it. (Also, super excited about the BRAND NEW THING @stereophobe.bsky.social and I are working on)
05.04.2025 00:17 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 2 π 1Yes. YESSSSS. (Also, now I really want more recs in PLG, Prospect Heights, and Sunset)
24.03.2025 19:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Realizing that sometimes I text like an fbi agent trying to infiltrate a bisexual group chat
19.03.2025 15:49 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0For food: DzoΜ Viet Eatery is great, as is Motherβs Dumplings, Mahaβs has lovely Egyptian brunch, Death in Venice Gelato and Moon Milk are wonderful if, like me, you're kind of obsessed with ice cream.
16.03.2025 02:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Art Gallery of Ontario is huge and wonderful (if you like the Met, you'll like AGO), MoCA is great if you're into contemporary art, St. Lawrence Market is fun but a bit touristy (you can get peameal bacon there), Monkeyβs Paw Bookstore has a book vending machine and a bunch of fun old books.
16.03.2025 02:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0it's so good, Christy.

16.12.2024 20:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It feels very Stanley Kim Robinson meets Le Guin, in a wonderful way.
16.12.2024 01:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This #AudioDramaSunday, gonna recommend something a bit different. @mikeduncan.bsky.socialβs new season of Revolutions, which is, in a break from every other seasonβ¦ fictional! Itβs about a revolution on Mars! And itβs fantastic to explore historical parallels in a sci-fi setting.
16.12.2024 01:41 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Yesssss, Generation Crossing instrumentals!!!
10.12.2024 15:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh, also, for #AudioDramaSunday, @gejwatts.bsky.socialβs fundraiser for season 2 of @camlannpod.bsky.social is still up! And you should donate if you can! tiltify.com/@tincanaudio...

Iβm also halfway through The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead, and itβs FANTASTIC so far, absolutely heartbreaking.
02.12.2024 21:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Foster by Claire Keegan. This beautiful Irish novella about grief and family MIGHT be the best thing I read all month, aside from Caro. I recommend it highly, the ending will devastate you, and you can finish it in an afternoon.
02.12.2024 21:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It isnβt his best, and suffers slightly in comparison because another book of his, Cage of Souls, is set in a post-apocalyptic prison and itβs a goddamn masterpiece. But still, very good, and you should def check out Tchaikovsky. (Start with Elder Race)
02.12.2024 21:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Alien Clay by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky is one of my favorite sci-fi writers working today, and this book about a prison revolt on an alien world is weird and wonderful.
02.12.2024 21:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Itβs a bit Obamaβs-favorite-book-core, and I wished it was just a tad subtler, but I still really liked it.
02.12.2024 21:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. Itβs set in the early 20th century and centers on this Jewish/Black community in Pennsylvania. The author did a wonderful job painting a picture of the setting, it felt so lived-in and vivid.
02.12.2024 21:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I also read their novella Livesuit, set in the same universe. It answered some of the questions posed by the novel, and it was fine. The twist is easy to see coming, but I enjoyed the slow, encroaching dread.
02.12.2024 21:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Mercy of Gods by James S.A. Corey. A new novel by the expanse guys, a different take on an alien invasion. It suffered a bit in comparison to the other books I was reading, (the sentences arenβt as good as Robert Caroβs π€·ββοΈ go firgure) but it was a quick, easy read, and it felt original.
02.12.2024 21:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Princess Bride by William Goldman. What a cute, funny read! Definitely of its time, but it was delightful. The meta-textual nature of it all would have BLOWN my mind in high school, as it was, I still found it charming. If youβve only seen the movie, def read the book too.
02.12.2024 21:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Prophet Song by Paul Lynch. An experimental Irish novel about descending authoritarianism. Was reading this the day after the election. Not sure if I was in the right or wrong headspace for it, but I did find it powerful
02.12.2024 21:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Years of Lyndon Johnson: The Path to Power by Robert Caro. Yes, I finished The Power Broker and immediately started his LBJ books. I have become fully Caro-pilled. Yes, he starts off the book talking about soil composition, yes, itβs fucking enthralling.
02.12.2024 21:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If youβre wondering what I did to make month-long grand-jury duty somewhat bearableβ¦ I read a LOT during breaks. And, in case you ever get called for month-long grand-jury duty - maybe try these books, I guess:
02.12.2024 21:53 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0very excited to report that Over the Garden Wall STILL slaps ten years later.
