A Story Scribbler

In two weeks I've gone from a bunch of character names and a rough concept to plotting a series outline broken down by book, character summaries and triple the lore.
I'm only adding a couple of ideas a day to my notes but every time I do is progress so I'm taking a moment to enjoy that

It was too hard to fight. Reality kept slipping away from them, making the #descent into oblivion grow. There was no end to this fall. They just saw the darkness grow until it broke into dreams. Memories of old love caught them, with a kiss that asked them to stay and rest. Finally at peace.

"I didn't ask for this."
"Well tough, it's my job."
"Your job is to be a #creeper? Gross!"
"It's called being a private investigator."
"Oh, so you can take pictures of people in secret and get paid for it? Ew!"
"Trust me, Most people are not interesting enough for me to want to 'creep' on."

It had been 5 years. And they had never wavered once despite the pain. It hurt to look at old pictures of her but it hurt more to look away. Which was why they kept fighting. Their #devotion to their mission was only beaten by their love for her. It was the only thing that kept them going.

The machines beeped and whirred as he worked. Data, codes, orders, all triple checked. When the #parameters were set he started to feel giddy. Finally, his dream could begin.
A crash sounded in the building, setting off alarms that made him growl.
"No. This time? You won't get in my way."

"You think about magic like it's this unique thing separate from everything else. But really it's the opposite. Magic is what connects everything together, spreading out in this endless web of pure energy across the planet."

"Sure, if you want to be pretentious about it."

"I don't like what you're accusing me of. Here I am, a random #citizen, being singled out for no reason."
"So the museum theft has nothing to do with you?"
"Innocent until proven guilty detective."
"Do you have to do that? I'm your brother."
"Either be a cop or be family you can't do both."

They had been clinging to a meteor, feeling their blood burn and body twist into a furnace. Fire licked on every breath, smoke clouded their senses. But now the fire was gone. Back to flesh and blood. But they were #cold now, too cold to move. Too cold to survive.

"My adorable water bear."
"A what?"
"Water bear. You know, tiny but tenacious, tough, nigh indestructible."
"You know, normal people would give their sweethearts a romantic nickname. Like diamonds."
"Nah, that's cliche. #Tardigrade is more correct anyway."
"How?"
"Have you seen your house?"

The cave was silent, empty but for a hundred stone eggs. But to her it was mystery. Adventure. Things her heart craved. So she wasn't scared when one of the eggs started to glow. Or when the light reached out for her. It spoke without words, the silence only breaking with her voice.
"Yes."

It was not the first time Quinn woke up from the pain. But everytime they did it would feel worse. A burning ache running through their hand, wrapping up their arm, to bind them in paralysing fire. A #souvenir that always came back to make sure they remembered what they had lost.

It was easy to clear the apartment out. Easier than it should have been according to their friends. Their whole life ended up in boxes or storage or the trash without a tear shed about it. But they couldn't deny that it was easy in the end. This place wasn't #home anymore. Not without her.

'Are you seriously going to #train in that?'
'What's wrong with this? You can't yell at me for the gloves, you're wearing the same ones.'
'It's the full sleeves I'm worried about. You're going to overheat.'
'...'
'Quinn?'
'Don't worry about that. Now come on. Show me why I hired you.'

"What do you have to #complain about? We have given you everything. We have only ever encouraged you to help you become stronger."
"You never encouraged me. You tried to make me be like you. But the second I want to be me? That is unacceptable. That isn't good enough. And I'm sick of it."

I finished the first draft of a new short story last night. Am far proud of my first line:

It may have been a little cocky for Niamh to break into the museum without a real plan. But in her defence, most museums didn’t employ magic in their security systems.

He knew what was coming. And he knew he was going to hate it. So he tried to put it off, to #delay the inevitable just a little longer. He needed more time before this conversation ruined his life. Before he lost-

So I finished #dragonage #veilguard on Saturday. Have finally processed the whole ending I think. Now I have my evenings free to write again. But I really want to start another playthrough 😆

The copter flew past the #skerries, watching the waves churn against the rock. It was her first time seeing the ocean. First time flying. First time doing a lot of things actually. The wind whistled past, singing a song that felt familiar. It was the only familiar thing she could find.

The sun is dying. A former white light now a bloody red set in a broken sky. Across the #horizon, what was once azure blue is now a dark bruise. No one knows how, but we know why. Even those who weren't born then remember that day. In our dreams we must all relive the day the last God died.

Debating which project to do lore/world building on

It's either reincarnating/immortal soul mates trying to prevent an apocalypse

Urban magic heist series + dragon spirits

Or the one where a former hero gets arrested and his kids try to arrange a prison break with his hero ex wife's nemesis

That feeling when you have lots of creativity but can't pick a project to commit to and instead you flit around half a dozen half baked ideas like a bee who hovers around every flower before they pick one.

On that note though, might be lore building again

They said he was going mad. Looking for clues in freak storms and #rain clouds. Trying to track them, plot them, even follow them. They didn't understand. He knew the spark of magic when he saw it. He knew her spark. And he had to find her. No matter what. He had to be the one to stop her.

This place had felt like home once. The shops, the cafes. The old statue where teens loiter. The blare of car horns on the main road. The busker with a broken guitar string. I knew it all so well back then.
'Here for any special business?'
'No, just #sightseeing.'
