This is phenomenal. The way it's shot, the way it sounds, the way it looks, the characters it portrays, it's all excellent.
It's hard to put into words how mesmerizing this movie is.

[Replay] Perfect Dark (2000, Rare)

Replayed through this in Perfect Dark (hardest) difficulty. This is a fantastic game that gets increasingly more annoying to play the further in you get. The soundtrack bangs, the controls are smooth and the weapons are fun. But its a PITA a lot of the time.

I've been rocking a Reze phone background since I read the manga years ago and I've never felt prouder after this film.

This was fine. It didn't make me feel much of anything. I like Michael as an unstoppable antagonist with small humanizing touches like looking both ways before driving a crossroad.

The inclusion of clips from The Thing from Another World is an awesome touch.

I've got this non-lethal gear and I'm cuffing everybody. I'm taking the risk. I walk up the basement, creep slowly towards the crate. He doesn't know I'm here and I've still got him in the sniper's sights. I get just close enough to avoid another blunder and beanbag him. It's done.

Instead of risking a bullet from a far corner, I use the sniper's vision to recon and sure enough, I spot the guy crouched behind a crate. Now, I could take the shot with the sniper. End the mission right there. But I want to do things right,

and miss. He flees, a back door out of the basement and up into the apartment courtyard. I go after him but I couldn't tell which direction he went. My shotgun probably won't do much good out in the open. And then I remember, we have a sniper post up above the courtyard.

Just had an awesome emergent gameplay moment in SWAT 4.
Final room of the level, things go wrong and I'm the only one left standing in my team. Every bad guy is cuffed, except one. I go slow, mirror around every corner, until I spot him. I'm injured, but his back is facing me. I aim, take the shot

I'm learning just now that Perfect Dark has a fully functioning, mouse-and-keyboard supporting, frame-unlocked PC port. According to my Xbox achievements (or lack thereof) I never finished the game. I should get on that.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent (2010, Frictional Games)

Unsettling, oppressive atmosphere, a depraved narrative and interesting puzzles make this a great time.
It's also much less scary that what I built up in my head.
