I worry about a frost coming. Thinking of collecting dead leaves to spread around the shoots.

I must have been seven when I went to Beddgelert and was told the story of Gelert.

Red peony shoots poke out from the earth and fallen dead stems from last year.

The peony peeks above the ground.

Good news. Even I get anxious when you have to move, because I know what it's like when you have a cat or dog.

Small rounded leaves with dark green centres and light green, almost silvery splotches, grow through the brown dead leaves of surrounding trees.

Acta Plantarum tells me these are the leaves of Lamium galeobdolon, Yellow Archangel or yellow dead nettle. Found at the edge of the hazelnut woods. A lot more information in English can be found here: www.first-nature.com/flowers/lami...

In my area, of northeastern Italy, we can have snow in April.
