This image displays the cover art for four of Emma Hynes’s singles. Top left is the snow-laden sea-view bridge of Don’t Forget; top right, the bare branches and bird in flight of Sometimes; bottom left the silhouetted field and jet-engine stream against the evening sky, which appears on The Space Between; and finally, a view of Córdoba, Spain, stretching out towards the mountains beyond.
#BandcampFriday is a great day to support #IndependentArtists by buying our music on the site, because @bandcamp.com doesn’t charge the usual fees! My four singles are here and I hope you like what you hear: emmahynes.bandcamp.com

Thanks so much, Christopher! It’s great you enjoyed it, and that we’re feeling the same about the show. You wonder sometimes if you’re alone in the things you notice and are feeling - and in caring about them! It’s nice to know when other fans are thinking the same way. Here’s hoping it lasts! 🙏

The Irish Women’s Christmas #NollaignamBan
Before writing my novels I always set aside two or three weeks of dedicated research. I visit museums and libraries, archives and records...
7 years ago today, a tweet from my Irish friend @emmahynes.bsky.social changed the direction of one of my novels and inspired another when I discovered the wonderful Irish tradition of #NollaignamBan the Women's Christmas. Here is the full story > flamingnora.blogspot.com/2019/12/the-...

Imagine that these are natural things that happen every day.
The sun ascends, and the tides rise and fall.
And for a few moments in the vast expanse of time, we get to stand there and be at once thoroughly part of it, and in awe of it, knowing that it will never look the same again.

The idea was to move on from past things - to make space for something new.
But, when it comes to the Naughty Naughty Pets, it seems they’re insisting on staying around.
Turns out, I couldn’t part with them anyway.

11 plush and cute Naughty Naughty Pets hold court on my radiator, fresh from the washing machine, and dry after a warm and cosy night.
It went very well for all 11 of them, and here they are having successfully dried on the radiator.
They smell lovely, and feel soft, and look as fresh and cheeky as the day they joined me.

I hadn’t quite remembered how many there were. But, on rediscovering them all, found their shapes and faces familiar - and in much need of some TLC.
Any remaining labels were removed, and they were readied for a stint in the washing machine.

I felt it was time to clear this space - to say farewell to things that did once bring happiness, but may be preventing something new and exciting coming into my world. And so, last night, I boxed up the collectibles.
It was through this act that the Naughty Naughty Pets came to be revealed.
