Heard of "Darwin's paradox"? It refers to Charles Darwin's observation that coral reefs are wildly productive despite occurring in nutrient-poor tropical oceans. Reefs are, so the story goes, oases in marine deserts ๐Ÿ๏ธ...

Turns out that 2/3 of these assertions are very wrong...

They are not beans. They are also legumes (as are chickpeas, peanuts and beans, correct) but they are not very similar in taste or texture. They have an amazing nutri profile which is high in protein. Exactly, they come readily cooked and prepared to eat :)

itโ€™s crazy to think about the amount of money Greta Thunberg would have if she embraced corporate sponsorships & greenwashing.

instead, she follows her moral compass โ€” even when it makes her a threat to capital.

we need more people like Greta.

The only way to save coral reefs A coral scientist calls for more "honest" messaging amid a global bleaching event.

โ€Although coral restoration efforts may be able to save tiny pockets of coral reef in a few select areas, the only real solution for coral reefs now is a rapid phase out of fossil fuelsโ€

Trump Opens Marine National Monument to Commercial Fisheries (Gift Article) The president said the move was aimed at making the United States the worldโ€™s โ€œdominant seafood leader.โ€

Commercial fishing is the most destructive activity we undertake in the ocean ๐ŸŒŠ. Trump just issued an executive order opening the Pacific Islands Heritage Marine National Monument to commercial fishing. ๐Ÿคฌ

Yes there is. Its the ssp (shared socio-economic pathways) scenarios. Google them. If we rapidly stopped all emissions (the best case scenario), we would see a av. warming of 1.5ยฐ and a sea level rise of ca. 30 cm by 2100 if I'm not mistaken. This is unrealistic. We are more on track to 50cm-1m

3 degrees by 2100 is maybe optimistic... thats somewhere between ssp2 and ssp3. But if the current political trends continue we might end somewhere higher :(

YouTube video by Senator Elizabeth Warren Republicans in Congress are hoping you wonโ€™t pay attention to them for the next 36 hours.

Repost the Warren video. The tariffs are a distraction to pass this Republican tax cut for the billionaires -- that's why they're cutting all kinds of programs in addition to medicaid, medicare and social security -- so they can pay for this billionaire tax cut:
