A snuggly doggo

Someone sure missed me while I was at #IPExercise2024 the last few days. Great conference (as always) but I’ll admit I did miss the puppo snuggles while I was gone🐾

Oh it’s 100% a way of gatekeeping. Hoping the move to a yes/no investigator/environment category in 2025 will improve this.

I will never truly understand the NIH scoring system even after participating in study sections. How can one receive nothing but praise under strengths in the investigator category, paired with “no weaknesses noted”, yet still only score as low as 3’s? Asking for literally every pretenure PI I know.

My lab has a tiny ice bucket like this. No idea where it came from, I think we inherited it. But it is actually super handy and gets a surprising amount of use!
