Hmmm…it’s like three female journalists raised the alarm on this in 2022 and then were subsequently shut down. I wonder who they could be…

These threats have been happening to female reporters and of colour yet nothing substantial was done

So many armchair generals out here tweeting war games & strategy (while clueless) as Israel escalates strikes across the region & the world sits at a dangerous crossroads.
Giving“little boys playing in the sandbox” energy at a critical and rather shameful point in history.

Media outlets framing Israel’s strikes on Iran as “pre-emptive” might want to look up the word? What was being “pre-empted”? Maybe stop quotes-based reporting now that we are at this critical point in history and let’s do some journalism.

Very unlikely that any military action by Israel is ever taken without the knowledge and consent of the U.S.

What Carney's big border bill could mean for refugees and civil liberties This Matters · Episode

Carney & the Liberal govt’s new border bill is tightening immigration laws, expanding security enforcement powers & limits refugee rights. Critics say it also risks violating Charter protections. Are we following the U.S.–Trump playbook on immigration?

Canada ended a program that offered permanent residency— & hope to migrant food workers—they kept food on our tables especially during the pandemic. Now a path that could lead to better conditions & rights is closed.

I know kids who haven’t been able to attend full days because their schools don’t have the funds to give them what they need for more than an hour or two. But hey, everyone got $200 that one time instead, right?

If you’re a former leader in journalism with a history of enabling problematic white men in media, shielding their bad behaviour & consistently failing Black and other JOC, I guess it would track that the first time you do stand up for someone, it had to be a white journalist. With all due respect.

Since when do segments get cancelled due to “pushback”on factual content? 4 yrs after 140 newsrooms signed a collective letter against the harassment of their most vulnerable journalists that was ironically propelled by Rachel,me & Erica Ifill. What chilling message is being sent to journalists?

Deeply personal, painful & resonating piece on the Canadian experience of exiled international journalists. The number of times I’m patronized and underestimated on assumptions made from an accent & the very clear signs I’m not “from here”.
