Security questions are the stupidest "security" measure ever invented. If you use the actual (easily researched) answer to a question like "what's your mother's maiden name" you are begging to be hacked.

Also, like passwords, your mother should have a different maiden name on every site.

I don't know anything about the fanfic, I barely know who the guy is... but if people read something and commit crimes, they, not thing they read, are responsible. To believe otherwise is to justify censorship.

Free speech isn't about protecting speech we like, whether "we" means "us" or "them".

I think it would be immeasurably sexy if all billboards and public advertising was banned.

I didn't mean to disparage you -- just the people who thought making a cloud-connected bed was a good plan, and especially the people who thought buying one was a good plan.

I was there for Y2K. When nothing happened, everyone thought it was people being alarmist over nothing, when in actual fact nothing happened because a whole lot of people put in a whole lot of overtime making sure it didn't. But people's beds were not at risk, that would be ridiculous. (Still is.)

I have to disagree: nobody in 2000 thought there would be cloud-controlled smart beds.

If you feel nothing right now, that’s OK! The light doesn’t demand anything; it simply is. Touch the earth. Breathe. Feel the wind move across your skin. Cry, bark, purr, shout, weep. Creature will feel it. It always does. That light was never a hole to fill — it is the part of us that remembers what we truly are: whole, creatures of light and love, wild, beautiful and free — waiting to be met again. If the story is about what happens before or after, or about ramifications beyond the fact of being TFed, the actual TF should work with the plot. Some plots need poof; some need the delay; some need the process.
