Oh there’s always a promoter and a venue, and if it’s sometimes you get lucky and they do things, but as I’ve got close to ‘professionals’ of late the attitude seems to be that the gig gets booked and that’s it unless you chase. And apparently that’s because someone can do the chasing as a job now?

Apparently promoters don’t send you the specifics for a gig anymore and you are supposed to ‘advance’ it which is something someone can charge for doing. Remember when people did this stuff because they cared about it and it thought it was good?

DIY or Die etc etc

Wild that there’s a whole industry of ‘booking agents’ who’s job it is to email about booking bands and a whole industry of ‘events promoters’ who’s job it is to say “ok”, and then nobody does anything unless prompted and people charge to send emails

The Music Industry is fucking leprous isn’t it.

Similarly I really like the recording on Life Metal and Pyroclasts but I kinda wanted them to do more with it? I feel like maybe the point at the moment is to get at the distilled down to it’s essence drone stuff, but I was really into the various guests and collabs etc around Monoliths time

19.07.2025 08:29 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Yeah I generally like all their stuff but post Monoliths it felt maybe less adventurous? Didn’t spend a lot of time with Kannon and I’ve just found the record moving so I’ll have to give it another go

Can I just make a sofa? Can I just screw some bits of wood together into a sofa shape and put cushions on? Does that work?

Their best album, I reckon

Used to use this as a nap soundtrack for ages because the spoken word at the end properly jolts you awake.

Wait, if there is already one of these, and I was the second, then I would be Corn 2.

I do already have a knitted yellow balaclava, so I’m part way to corn.

If enough of us are willing to risk looking like huge dorks who suck then maybe we can normalise it

Actually got in just in time for #portfolioday - here’s some recent and not so recent squiggling.

Got a new spot completely sorted out and moving stuff underway - horrors of rental industry dealt with for the foreseeable and better environment on the horizon etc etc.

So what I’ve decided to do is get paralysingly anxious about another thing and sit on the sofa not sorting anything instead.

Preaching to the choir here but the entire rental industry is run by wildly incompetent parasites.

Not the worst part to go in the grand scheme of things, replaceable easy enough by a mechanic with the aproper tools and it only broke because the car is old and the screws holding the clips that hold the hose up went, so it's not a long term issue. Still, we got VERY lucky it went when it did.

And still actually very good tools - quite like the limitations on faff that those things provide. Should probably get round to getting a minidisc reader, but transferring it to the computer in real time via a cable is very satisfying
