Hon sticker i sommar tyvärr, oavsett vad vi erbjuder henne. Hon är nästan lika viktig för damerna som Besara är för herrarna, så det blir en enorm utmaning att försöka hitta en ersättare.

Why does mainstream accommodation of far-right and Eurosceptic parties often electorally backfire? In my 3rd dissertation paper, just published in @wepsocial.bsky.social, I argue that voters specifically punish internally divided parties for accommodation: doi.org/10.1080/0140...

Nature study: "The political effects of X’s feed algorithm" Abstract: "Feed algorithms are widely suspected to influence political attitudes. However, previous evidence from switching off the algorithm on Meta platforms found no political effects1. Here we present results from a 2023 field experiment on Elon Musk’s platform X shedding light on this puzzle. We assigned active US-based users randomly to either an algorithmic or a chronological feed for 7 weeks, measuring political attitudes and online behaviour. Switching from a chronological to an algorithmic feed increased engagement and shifted political opinion towards more conservative positions, particularly regarding policy priorities, perceptions of criminal investigations into Donald Trump and views on the war in Ukraine. In contrast, switching from the algorithmic to the chronological feed had no comparable effects. Neither switching the algorithm on nor switching it off significantly affected affective polarization or self-reported partisanship. To investigate the mechanism, we analysed users’ feed content and behaviour. We found that the algorithm promotes conservative content and demotes posts by traditional media. Exposure to algorithmic content leads users to follow conservative political activist accounts, which they continue to follow even after switching off the algorithm, helping explain the asymmetry in effects. These results suggest that initial exposure to X’s algorithm has persistent effects on users’ current political attitudes and account-following behaviour, even in the absence of a detectable effect on partisanship." https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-026-10098-2
New experimental study publshed in Nature confirms what we all largely expected, that "X" was algorithmically redesigned to promote a right-wing ideological pipeline.

New course for PhD students.
This course explores the contemporary conditions under which far-right publics are formed, mobilized, and legitimized, as well as their societal consequences, in terms of nativist sentiments, authoritarian attitudes, and anti-migrant violence.

Maybe not trust crisis, but the scandalization of Norwegian politics has reached a new level. And as I say here, political trust isn't extremely important for any one thing in particular, but it plays a role in many things, like voter turnout, welfare systems, acceptance of foreigners, and more.

Sociology, along with i.a. Mendelian genetics, cybernetics, quantum physics, or theory of relativity, was banned in the Soviet Union and its satellites as "bourgeois pseudoscience" incompatibile with Marxism-Leninism.
Turns out that maybe it's just incompatible with authoritarianism in general.

For the FES, I wrote a short brief about how mainstream party strategies have fueled far-right success. They move toward more anti-immigration positions to win voters back. This does not work, but shifts public opinion to the right. Parties then react to shifts in public opinion. A vicious cycle.
