Twitter for me was mainly about community issues in Soho. Slowly on the way out (of X and Soho) so moving into broader areas of interest here, I hope. Politics, community, books, Spurs, Christian faith ...
Impressive!
31.08.2025 20:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Always enjoy these reports, Lewis. This one shows the value of a good local candidate. I'm sure we often miss out on good candidates within communities who (unlike Grauberg) are outside the party system. Smart parties would do well to make room for them, but would need to allow some independence.
30.08.2025 09:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I hadn't thought of that. I guess racism often misuses language, and it can be quite varied. But I'd presumed this was part of the old attitude of British racism which assumed all foreigners were inferior, including Spaniards. (There's probably some evidence for this at European soccer matches.)
22.08.2025 16:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You'd have thought there might be quite a few 'foreigners' in Spain.
21.08.2025 19:39 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 0 π 1Was he enthusiastically pro-Trump, ignoring all the downsides? Or reluctantly pro-Trump, recognising the downsides but also seeing some positives compared with the Democratic opposition? (And more importantly, are you enjoying Botswana? Interesting choice of destination!)

30.06.2025 20:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Funniest thing is that Tories can't object on principle, because of Paul Fisher. So serious concern about Reform shows in very personal attack on X from Paul Swaddle. Whatever you think about policy, Westminster Labour leadership is some way ahead in reasonable and civil public discourse.

Poch and Ange gave us the highs. Daniel Levy has given us the lows. (Taking away the credit he should have from appointing them in the first place, and from the business achievements of the stadium, etc).
You give journalism a good name, Ian. Well done!

21.05.2025 22:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Maybe. But sounds like recognition of a genuine mistake to me, 'I got it wrong, sorry'. Don't think he'd be accepted by others as a reporter on the club if deliberate sensationalism was his usual practice. Seems out of character.

02.03.2025 05:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Trumpism is only half of America. We shouldn't forget the other half. In the medium term, the real challenge is to find ways to bring back those who voted for Trump reluctantly. They need to be persuaded that the threat to democracy and the rule of law is the main issue now.
01.03.2025 10:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There are two big questions. How can Europe take more responsibility for its own security? Everyone's asking that. But also important: What can Europe do to strengthen its own democratic values and encourage the American people not to slide further away from them? (Abuse is not an effective answer!)

24.02.2025 15:42 β π 15 π 2 π¬ 2 π 0Did some research (asked a daughter). Seems local (Westminster) and/or younger kids (teens, early twenties) mean Oxford St, Soho, Chinatown, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Sq, Trafalgar Sq. And maybe Covent Garden. But for older young people, living further away, Central can mean a much wider area.

On the other hand, writing about borders (in your case) is bang on. Brings enlightenment and pleasure, your way of making a difference. Hope there'll be more soon!
