7:39 pm: City Attorney Carrie Daggert says there’s no legal barrier to sequestering applications during the voting process. This means the council has the flexibility to keep candidate materials private (while deliberating). It could help maintain fairness during the selection process.

7:34 pm: City Manager Kelly Demartino explains, "If we have more than five applications, we will go through a process to select five by January 15th. If we have fewer, we will have more time to open the application process."

7:32 pm: Councilmember Kelly Ohlsen: "The retreat should be pushed back by one to two weeks. Right now, the schedule front-loads too much busy work for the Board of Commissioners, which doesn’t make sense. We should consider adjusting the timeline and streamlining the initial workload."

7:24 pm: Emily Francis suggests we include the current occupation for work and volunteering. "It gives the council a clearer picture of each applicant’s current level of engagement."

7:22 pm: Emily Francis says January 13th is a big day because so many councilmembers are being introduced. She is curious about distributing days so they aren't overly loaded with context in a single day, especially for new council members.

7:19 pm: Melanie Potyondy is a strong advocate for an in-person process rather than an online one for applicant questions. "Limiting the number of interviews makes sense for a reasonable number. I prefer quality public comments over quantity."

7:07 - On January 13, the Fort Collins City Council will hold a meeting focused on leadership transition. The council will also begin the process of filling the District 6 vacancy by reviewing applicants and having a reception to mark the occasion.

Coldrion explains that the goal is to appoint a councilmember by the January 24th retreat.

6:35: Chief Financial Officer, Caleb While, provides information on CCPI reserves for affordable housing. "Staff will begin planning on using that funding and using that housing program. We are projecting that 5 million dollars will be used towards the new agreement."

6:33: Current Mayor Jeni Arndt acknowledges Fort Collins Residents for voting and congratulates Emily Francis on winning the mayoral election.

Melaine Potyondy acknowledges the celebration of art and public places; they had 1,000 art pieces throughout. "We are all in agreement that art and public places make the city of Fort Collins a 'unique and fun place."

6:29: Councilmember Kelly Ohlson comments on the recommendations for the transportation boards.

City of Fort Collins Project Manager Dana Hornkohl plans to follow up on this statement with the Resident.

6:23: Fort Collins Resident, Ezriah, challenges the bike safety measures provided in Fort Collins

"Collisions will increase. There are no dashed lines with unmarked spaces. Having a rule this unusual is bad because the signs aren't visible."

6:21: Fort Collins Resident Maggie Baldwin challenges the Stuart Street opening, "It will put our school kids and hikers at risk if you increase our traffic."

6:19: Fort Collins Resident Christina Swope challenges the Air Quality Advisory Board's comments on the Building performance standards.

6:15 pm: Fort Collins Resident Natalie Barnes challenges the Epic Access. "I am opposed to the proposal to open those gates at Epic; it's a bad idea. There are many bad reasons to do that. I don't understand it, and my neighborhood doesn't either. It needs a closer perspective.

6:12: Fort Collins Resident Rich Jones challenges the city's billing system for utility Rates, calling it a "monopoly".

"The money that gets spent to increase capacity must be paid by the rate payers, and that rate is greater than inflation."

6:08 pm: Fort Collins Resident Gary Jones urges stopping the Prospect Road from Stuart Street via the EPIC gate. "I firmly believe you need to keep it closed. No matter what sign is put up, drivers will ignore it."
