Knitting for Olive is donating all of their profits on Saturday to UNICEF to support aid in Gaza, and for that I will absolutely allow myself to be in their chokehold

I don’t agree with the girl I just saw call it “the very best yarn in the whole wide world” but buying ethically means a lot to me

As a knitter I believe in color dominance in the same way I believe in ghosts: I’ve never seen it, but people are very confident it’s real 🧶

I truly don’t understand the chokehold Knitting for Olive has on the knitting community right now. This is my second sweater with it and I’m still not impressed

Sometimes I’m knitting on main too. But also what a difference lighting makes

I’m just going to end up knitting another one, aren’t I…

Yarn is Berroco Vintage DK in Snow Day and Super Glo fibers hand dyed in the colorway Mermaid Caves.

The Super Glo is hand dyed in Scottsdale and I picked it up when I was on a family vacation in Arizona. Making matching sweaters for me and my cousin’s baby

Back to one at a time - like sleeves were meant* to be knit 🧶

The first one started as Sharon’s Glamping Blanket by Casapinka which is… an odd pattern, so half way through I took a stitch dictionary out of the library and improvised

For the second one I just cast on 100, left 2 border stockinette stitches on each side, and made it up along the way

None of them are! Two cousins and three friends. At least I’ve found / created a pattern that’s fun

I swear every time I’ve been to the yarn store in the last few months I’ve been getting something for a baby gift. Single handed keeping Jody Long in business.

They’re also so important for blocking and knowing how something will fit! I’m really particular about armhole depth - I hate it when that’s too high - and it’s so hard to adjust for fit without ripping back without the full schematic.

Okay this information was actually in the pattern but in a dumb spot, and I stand by my “knitting patterns should always have schematics” statement 🧶

Yes, if I’m on gauge the number of rows should work out fine, but what if I want to double check? What if my gauge changed? (It did)

It’s a kids sweater for my niece, I don’t really have her here to check the length

I haven’t made many Petite Knit patterns, but every time I do, I curse them for not having a schematic

I should not be doing algebra to find out how long this sleeve is supposed to be

Perhaps stripes were not the best choice for my first time knitting sleeves two at a time
