If you count 00, it was as early as 1936. But they were already making railway buildings in O and 1 gauge much earlier than that.The tinplate stuff stopped in 1957, aside from loco sheds/turntable/cranes. You could still get repairs done until the 1980s, when the last marklin specialists retired.

Marklin 418 - Bahnhof Friedrichshafen as bought with damaged roof

One more scenic touch... A "cheap" eBay find, #Marklin 418, Bahnhof Friedrichschafen, I think this one was made in 1948.
I had to repaint the main roof, I managed to darken the corners.
Gloss colours used:
Roof: RAL 8004 Copper brown
Corners: RAL 8015 Chesnut brown
