07.10.2025 22:47 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Today, there is going to be a puppy protest.
"No violence against our people, our dogs, or our communities."
Is it a coincidence that it is happening the same day notorious dog-murderer Kristi Noem is in Portland? ๐ค Unclear.
But we are here ๐ for ๐ it ๐
I mean, we even have paddling protest witches:
bsky.app/profile/laur...
I'll take a look around. I used to follow some protest witches in what has become Elon's hellscape, but I can't remember if I've seen them on here. I don't take my phone down there.

And it also means the people in our city will not stop and will not give up. And the whole city from top to bottom knows that, so everyone can make decisions accordingly.
Not to mention all the tactical lessons we learned ๐
This isn't our first rodeo, and I don't say that because we're not taking it seriously, more like the opposite. It was difficult to recover from the damage the feds did last time, repuationally and kind of psychologically. But it also means our elected officials absolutely will not give the feds
07.10.2025 22:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I mean, we're having an "Emergency World Naked Bike Ride" this weekend to protest the threat of the national guard deployment, and this is actual footage of the ongoing protest outside the ICE facility from this weekend:

Lol yeah, it's definitely different out here. Oregon is full of contrarian, independent spirit, but as Portland has grown over the last 50-ish years that's been channeled into a fight for your values, wear your ๐ on your sleeve, stand up for the little guy vibe. With a lot of joyful weirdness on top
07.10.2025 21:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0it. People are salty about it. They basically made 2/3rds of the city hate the chamber of commerce (they even had to re-brand, but didn't actually change), and big business (not actual big - Portland big) more broadly. That's how we ended up with charter reform and so many DSA councilors
07.10.2025 17:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Some of that, but Portland (biggest city in the state and over 57% of GDP) saw progressive policies turn the city into a place where people really WANTED to live. We had a few years of "moderates" (might be R's somewhere else) take control and throw their weight around and people REALLY did not like

07.10.2025 15:20 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The Republican Party in Oregon is using footage from South America to make a fake photo of protests in Portland.
The only thing not showing up does is make their job easier for them.
The more people who listen to you and other foolish people saying "don't show up," the more people will be killed.
Inciting violence against people working within what used to be the normal bounds of the law.
The idea that if people don't show up he'll look dumb is absolutely ridiculous. *They do not care about reality.* They are using footage of Portland from years ago to justify sending the national guard.
And detaining them. Shooting us. Dragging us through the streets. Smashing our cars and our houses and our businesses. Snatching us away from our children. Labeling not just those visibly opposed, but even those who just aren't in support, as terrorists. And indirectly, by normalizing, encouraging,
07.10.2025 15:00 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0At best, a joke. Or who knows, maybe you're working for them.
Laying violent traps for us to fall into? They don't need violent traps. They are already perpetrating violence with impunity. Directly, like dragging children and US citizens or of their beds in the middle of the night, zip tying them,
Un-serious ideas deserve un-serious responses. If you can't look at past instances of fascism AND their tactics over the last 10 years and see that every one of their tactics that is not visibly and forcefully opposed is more ground they gain and an opportunity to push things even further, you are,

Hey, Illinois, for what it's worth, from Portland: You may have heard, our cops are not wildly popular. Even so, they testified in court that the feds are actively instigating conflicts at our ICE facility.
