The Ting Tings have had several (good) albums over several years. People don't listen to them because they aren't pushed and most listeners aren't willing to go looking.

I don't want you to take this the wrong way, but if I had less willpower, it's comments like the one you just made would probably make me want to give up. I suggest that if you want to see some sort of change, you have to start by not putting out the idea that it's not worth trying.

This sucks to hear, but everyone's going to have their own anecdotes. It appears Reich is giving examples to justify his thoughts here though, if that helps explain despite your personal experience. A rising tide will lift all boats, even if it's not perceptible at sea.

Former bookseller here. These aren't going away. Besides certain genres, this is reliant on sales. Huge sellers push, often, to mass market because they can churn them out fast and sell them at more locations than just traditional bookstores.

I might recommend not watching if it's that detrimental to your interest. I'm not sure what will satisfy your concern for an already-filmed season.

Half the cast hasn't been on a Reality TV show. Every time this discussion comes up, people kind of start conflating 'everyone' to 'not-normal people'. Happened with TAR28 as well, and what it really meant was they had racers who knew how to appear on a camera for a change.

In the event you can't find an older edition, I would recommend speaking to your local bookseller. If you have a cover in mind, bringing the specific ISBN goes a long way in being able to order, especially for backlist titles and books with many reissuances.

For sales. Former bookstore employee here. Most non-readers gravitate to covers that feature movie posters because they associate it with the film. ie. these books bring in MORE readers from a market that wouldn't read otherwise. For everyone else, old editions still exist.
