Grace Murray Hopper at the UNIVAC keyboard, c. 1960. Grace Brewster Murray: American mathematician and rear admiral in the U.S. Navy who was a pioneer in developing computer technology, helping to devise UNIVAC I. the first commercial electronic computer, and naval applications for COBOL (common-business-oriented language).
In this black‑and‑white image, Admiral Grace Hopper sits at the UNIVAC I operator console, surrounded by three colleagues. She is positioned center‑right, with her hands likely resting on the machine's keyboard or control panel. Two men lean in from either side—one seated beside her and another standing behind—suggesting a collaborative atmosphere around the sizable, angled console.

Happy pride month! 🏳️🌈
Pride is about not just persisting, but taking life back from the fringes of society, thriving in spite of adversity. It isn't vanity; It's solidarity and defiance.
Sometimes protest, sometimes celebration, however the political pendulum swings, we remain.

It's really weird to be a male-bodied system with male and female parts... cuz we don't fit in as "girls", but we're not "a guy" either. AND it's a LOT harder to pass as a guy than ppl would think...

An ancient star map (not the document analyzed in the new research) unearthed in Dunhuang, China, in the seventh century C.E. Public domain via Wikimedia Commons
This is a detailed celestial chart drawn on a long scroll, part of a larger astronomical manuscript. The map features star positions organized into constellations, many labeled with Chinese characters.
The stars are depicted as small black dots, often connected with lines to form recognizable asterisms, aligned along vertical and horizontal axes. This map is one of the oldest known graphical representations of the night sky, demonstrating advanced astronomical knowledge and the importance of celestial observation in Tang dynasty China.

The Maya sacred calendar is called Tzolk’in in Yucatec Mayan and Chol Q’ij in K’iche’ Mayan. This calendar is not divided into months. Instead, it is made from a succession of 20 day glyphs in combination with the numbers 1 to 13, and produces 260 unique days. Multiplying 20 x 13 equals 260 days.
This image illustrates how the numbers 1 to 13, cycle through the 20 glyphs to form dates in the Tzolk’in calendar. Any such combination, such as 1 Imix’, repeats only after 260 days have passed.
The length of the Tzolk’in matches nine cycles of the Moon and the gestational period of humans. The Tzolk’in is also related to the movements of the zenith Sun and the growing cycle of corn.
https://maya.nmai.si.edu/calendar/calendar-system#:~:text=The%20Maya%20sacred%20calendar%20is,x%2013%20equals%20260%20days.
What Is the Origin of the Calendar? The modern calendar borrows influences from a collective of early calendars such as the Jewish, the Babylonian, the Roman, and the Egyptian calendars.
