06.08.2025 11:22 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0As of this evening it appears to be cordoned off. I'm thinking that banner might have appeared a bit too quickly! ๐ค

06.08.2025 11:10 โ ๐ 21 ๐ 31 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1I was going to say that you can still order online from C&A over in the EU (it was only the UK they pulled the plug on many, many years ago), but I just checked and they don't do y-fronts over there now either. Blooming Labour influencing an EU company that haven't traded in the UK for decades, eh?

06.08.2025 16:24 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I sometimes forget how strong the taste of homegrown carrots can be. I stuck four into my lunchtime one-pan-wonder lash up, and when I came to eat it the taste was basically "CARROT!" despite having a load of other fresh veggies, onions, garlic, herbs and spices in it.
06.08.2025 13:01 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If they can do nuclear fusion on the moon I'll be very happy. However I think it's just boring old fission they're planning on for this. Certainly if they're aiming for 2030 active deployment.
06.08.2025 06:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That rings true from my childhood. In assembly a naughty boy was made to stand up "so the whole school could see him". After he was told to sit down, the headmaster made me stand up too so the whole school could see who'd beaten the merit record.
Might as well have painted a target on my back... ๐ฏ
I hope you're going to slip a little summer break in there somewhere!
06.08.2025 06:38 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Occasionally we get a reminder that we're now living in the future. I think this new #accessibility tech might be one of those moments.

If they do instigate this bond, it might inadvertently be one of the most significant things the Trump administration do to tackle #ClimateChange.
It would also potentially stuff up the need for another runway and terminal at Heathrow.
A sand battery you say? Hmm... I've suddenly had a great idea what we can use Blackpool for during the energy transition.
04.08.2025 22:07 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I am a spectacularly petty individual:
I absolutely hammered it down the cycle lane on the way to work this morning, past queueing traffic, just so I could say I overtook a Ferrari on my bike ๐๐ฒ

These electric cars are a niche thing that won't catch on.
Oh what's that? Supermarkets are now advertising EV charging to try to capture that tiny demographic?
Or could it be that we're out of early adopters phase and into mass market take up, and commercially competitive shops have sussed that?
We shouldn't need to campaign to have an electric railway in 2025.
04.08.2025 15:46 โ ๐ 15 ๐ 5 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Just been chatting online with my brother who lives in Ontario, Canada. They've been advised to stay indoors if possible today because the air quality is very poor. This is due to drifting smoke from multiple wildfires burning hundreds or thousands of km west from them.

Which makes me think that Welsh drivers that are whinging still might be a bunch of spoiled mummy's boys. ๐ค๐๐คฃ
Our office "official start of Christmas" is when Matlock's Sainsburys has in store baked mince pies with an expiry date after Christmas Eve.
That's very specific because that's what one team member used as his indicator and the rest of us didn't really have anything else (<cough>or care</cough>).
I got mine from eBay, but the seller is out of stock now: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/38808210...
There's plenty of similar ones.
You know I said an hour or so ago that I was knackered after a day at the allotment? Well I put pizza base mix in the bread machine and then before I knew what I was doing I seem to have accidentally strimmed the front drive, cleared the gutter on the road outside, cut back ivy and clean the patio.
03.08.2025 17:35 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Oh and it's too small for our standard water butt interconnect hoses and fittings - I had some of those on hand in the shed to try.
03.08.2025 16:27 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0One thing I do need to find though is some suitable diameter hose (US or China sized?). I manage to split and jubilee clip some old flex hose onto the outlet barb, but it's too big for standard UK garden hoses. Ideally I'll get 3m of suitable hose and sprag a hozelock connector on the far end.
03.08.2025 16:27 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Oh, and good news on the Makita battery compatible water pump that I finally got to try out today. Not only did it pump fine with the battery attached, it also created a siphon so I could unplug the battery and it still kept pulling water out of the butt. Didn't even use one bar on the battery!
