Gen X here extremely bummed about my high energy video being banned even though I also log onto blue sky and read sentences. There’s just something about the spoken word.

Seriously though because I was proud of myself for knowing the other answers but confused why they thought cubic root of 81 should be common knowledge.

I’m not mad at them. Why should TikTok allow one administration after another to drag this out endlessly? Our government wants to ban it - without the consequences. Nope. I feel just like I felt during the last weeks of 2024 election - just let this be over. And I love TikTok.

It served as a mirror to allow you connect to communities very much like yourself, with similar experiences. But it also acted as a window allowing you to see out to the experiences of those completely different from you.

That’s true of any media. Legacy media, social media, sometimes even who you associate with in real life. We tend to live in bubbles. If you were interested (and the average teen probably wasn’t) TikTok acted like both a mirror and a window.

Exactly. I was just chatting with a coworker about how often I say “I just read about…(insert topic)” But in actuality that meant I saw it on TikTok then went to research/verify with other sources so - I in fact actually ended up reading about it. TikTok inspired so much additional learning.

TikTok was incredibly superior to YouTube Shorts. I am trying to give it a chance since Meta is dead to me. But it’s so disappointing. It’s like going from a personal shopper/stylist to digging through an endless unorganized rack of clearance clothes on your own. Maybe I’ll try Red Book.

I’m here to find a replacement for Twitter - not TikTok . I was exploring replacements for TikTok before I seriously considered Red Book. The energy on Meta apps is trash. Tried YouTube and I can’t decide whether it’s worth the effort to train its algorithm to give me what I actually want to see.
