Just then, as if Lan Wangji thought his smack didn’t properly convey his anger, he shoved Wen Ning several meters away.

A chicken wing fell out of Lan Jingyi’s mouth. It landed into his bowl, splattering sauce everywhere, getting all over the front of his robes.

“Who’s name did you just call out?” Jiang Cheng said suddenly, eyes narrowed.

魏无羡怔怔的看着她，忽然发出一声无意义的怒吼。
Wei Wuxian looked at her blankly. Then, suddenly, he let out a meaningless, enraged snarl.

“温宁是一把刀，一把让他们害怕的刀，但也是一把他们用来作为攻击你的借口的刀。我们去了，你没了这把刀，他们，也就没有借口了。这事儿，也许就完了。”
“Wen Ning is a knife—a knife they are afraid of, a knife they are using as an excuse to attack you. Once we go, once you no longer have this knife, they won’t have any excuses anymore. This whole ordeal—it might just end.”

魏无羡自言自语道：“奇也怪哉。这么闷的一个人，怎么能总是让我这么开心呢？”
“How odd,” Wei Wuxian said to himself. “How can such a stuffy person always bring me so much joy?”

“Was it painful?” Lan Wangji suddenly asked.

温宁：“什么？”
“What?” Wen Ning said.

蓝忘机道：“剖丹，痛苦吗。”
“The core excision. Was it painful?” Lan Wangji said.

温宁道：“如果我说不痛苦，蓝公子你也不会信吧。”
“Even if I said it wasn’t, you wouldn’t believe me, would you, Lan-gongzi,” Wen Ning said.

蓝忘机心事重重地点了点头。顿了顿，又道：“带回去……藏起来。”
Lan Wangji nodded like something was weighing heavily on him. He paused for a moment, then continued, “Bring them back… and hide them away.”

“兄长，我，想带一人回云深不知处。”
“Brother, I… want to bring someone back to the Hidden Cloud Depths.”

蓝曦臣讶然道：“带人回云深不知处？”
“Bring someone back?” Lan Xichen asked, surprised.

“不许吹给他听。”
“You’re not allowed to play it for him.”

魏无羡揶揄道：“你怎么这么霸道呀。”
“How come you’re being so bossy?” Wei Wuxian teased.

蓝忘机不高兴地重复道：“不许吹给他听！”
“You’re not allowed to play it for him!” Lan Wangji repeated, upset.

温宁双膝跪地，五指深深插入土地之中，抓起了一把漆黑的泥土，握在手心，低声道：“……姐姐。”
Wen Ning kneeled down, both knees on the ground. He dug his fingers deep into the soil, brought up a fistful of black earth, and quietly said, “…Jiejie.”
